Kenshi
How to improve lag?
I'm having problems with FPS crashes in the game and I was wondering if there is a pack or mod that fixes this or what I can do to improve the lag in the game

What's your PC spec and what are your settings? Are you running around the map at 3x speed? Did you turn auto save on?

My PC has the reasonable settings, I can play heavier games with good fps from 50 to 60, but with kenshi fps is very low, I left everything at a minimum, and fps keeps falling, auto save is enabled, but I I run at speed x3, what causes more FPS loss is the sandstorms, is there any way to turn them off? or something I can do to improve the performance of the game?
Dont run the game at 3x speed for starters.

There is a mod that removes weather effects and one that lowers foliage in the workshop.

Kenshi is not a finished game. So knowing your specs might help us troubleshoot your issues.

What is the name of the mod?

My PC: 4GBM ram and Intel i3 3.20GHz
Off the top if my head i dont know thier names.

But right off the bat. Your ram is to low. Suggest 8gb to 16gb if you can.

If not, then find those mods and defiantly stop running your game at 3x speed. You do not gave enough ram to do it constantly.

Even with that you will continue to have performance issues because you do not have eneough ram to run the game and your OS.

You might get a hour or two before the game crashes because it will run out of usable memory. This is why the game no longer support's 32bit. It requires more the 4gb.

Yep. What Hatsune said. Don't run around the map at 3x speed. Doesn't matter how beefy your PC is, you're bound to hit a spike if you run at 3x speed.

Did you notice any lag everytime the game autosave? If you don't like that, turn autosave off. Use quicksave instead (F5 I think).

Since you didn't specify what your GPU is, based on your ram and processor I suggest lower the view distance, terrain detail, grass & foliage view range and density. Turn off water reflection, shadows, FXAA and HeatHaze too if you must. Remember to turn off fast zone hopping in the general settings.

If you have issues with the weather, try this mod and see if it makes any difference:

I run 3x speed without a problem most of the time, sometimes if it slows down I'll bump the speed down till it load and then right back to it. My pc is pretty beefy though, also always play with 4x nests and world population slider to 1.5.

32 gb ram 1060 with 6 gb game is on solid state HD which helps a lot too.

What series of i3 are you running and video card. This game at times tests my 1800x with 16 gig ram and rx 480 8gig in 3x mode. Mind you I have like 60 guys and 6 bases though out the map.

I suggest that you get more ram 4 gig really low if your video shares that it even lower then that.

I suggest running 1x when out exploring and only run 3x when there in base.

Also to look up your equipment quick I suggest "Speccy" good program just like CCleaner and defraggler.

Min Ram for the game is 8 gig.

3rd part software. Razor but you have to give up some privacy. ITs a real B but it the program does improve your frames per second.

Had FPS freezes too, on a (if a i3 is beefy, not sure how to call my i7) 16GB ram, yet on longer distances, and swamps/big city's the loading bar showed up, and FPS tanked, sometimes even crash..

So i moved Kenshi to my SSD, and thrue still some slowdowns at the biggest loading spots, yet never had a CTD anymore.
Kenshi demands above all crazy fast drive speeds, and this game really begs for an SSD for preformance more as any other game i played thusfar.

My biggest suggestion above all others is to reduce or disable shadows. These are pretty poorly optimized at this point and even basic ones bring the game to a crawl for me. I can have everything maxed but when I even turn shadows on the game nearly chokes to death.

ya i have a low lwevel i7, with normal HD, 32g ram and had a 980 ti ftw till the other day. had no issues with the game but shadows were always retarded. so had them off. i got a 1080 ftw2 the other day and now i have everything set to high/max and it runs about the same but looks MUCH cooler/better.

btw far as i know 4g is what u need to RUN ur windows. its suggested to have at least 8g now adays so u have OS plus some for other things. for a pc that plays games i would think 16 would be more normal honestly.

in games view range is always a big one to mess with if having issues. shadows i would at least turn to min if u cant handle off. think another big killer for this game is terrain detail setting. but those 3 things along should dramatically change ur experience visually and performance wise lol.
