Kenshi engine upgrade
I quit my previous playthrough when I heard the news of the new engine coming out when (I think along with Kenshi 2?). Should I wait for the new engine to come out before starting a new playthrough? It was so frustrating dealing with the bugs and stuff. Dont get me wrong I love the game but I couldnt get into the basebuilding at all because I would build walls and fancy gate setups with turrets but enemies would just chew through my walls even though there were no obstacles blocking my gate. My squad could get through it just fine so I know it wasnt a pathfinding problem...

Though the pathfinding was a problem sometimes, I would try to get people somewhere on the map only to find them standing still after giving the command. Also the jobs I would assign people at my base sometimes they wouldnt do them at all even though everything was within their vicinity.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant lol, I really do love the game I put an insane amount of hours in it the first week I got it. Its just at some point it becomes too much micromanaging and a lot less fun, due to bugs and stuff.

we won't be seeing anything from it until least 2020 or 2021 minimum.
that's how extensive the upgrades are. they are gonna take time.

Alright thanks hatsune, do you have any tips on how to get around certain bugs? I really REALLY want to get into the basebuilding aspect of the game but the whole enemies chewing through walls thing really sucked. I would do the ctrl + shift + f11 thing (or whatever it is) often to try to fix the pathfinding too but it often wouldnt do much.
don't build walls.

but it could depend on where you build as well.
me, i never had issue with enemies going through my walls, they always go through my front gate. so can't really help on that one
but you should zip up and upload the save folder when this happens to you. the Devs are looking for saves when this happens when they should instead be going to your front gate.

Yeah, building complex wall systems is the main problem that breaks pathfinding. Personally I simply don't build them at all either, though that only really works when you're capable of beating all the hostiles in normal combat.

But if you're gonna build walls, try and keep them simpler, rather than building elaborate monstrosities. The more walls, corners, and gates there are, the more likely something is going to break somewhere.

Well I dont know about complex I just build a big circle and put a gate on opposite ends, build on really flat land too.

I just assumed that was your problem when you mentioned the "fancy gate setups" thing. Still, as Hatsune said, upload the save and report the issue. There are countless possible ways these same issues can happen, and the devs need saves to track them down.
