Kenshi
Kenshi just crashed so hard it killed my SSD
while running around in the border zone the game suddenly froze for like 20 seconds, then just closed to desktop. now I can't see the crash log because whenever I click a file on my ssd i get "the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error" but whatever i still love this game for everything it is, just wanted to share this unfortunate happening lol

Honestly, that sounds more like the drive failure that caused a game crash to me. If the game could no longer read or write from the drive, it would crash.

update: unplugging and plugging back in SSD fixed it, no idea how like ??
might want to make a backup of your saves
your SSD might be failing.

This might sound stupid but please hear me out. Sometimes, the connector cable between your SSD and the motherboard has a little rust at the pin or socket teeth area(forgot the correct term). What you do is rub it with a clean printing paper. Do not use sand paper! This would happen to RAM module too.

I'd agree with this, if the drive is miraculously working again back up any important files ASAP and then check it for faults. Sounds like it might be on the way out.

I ran chkdsk and it came back with nothing, but the SSD's built in program or firmware (whatever its called) said that there was some kind of issue then fixed itself
