You used to be able to send a worker to bed, or rescued a worker that was unconcious. They would stay in bed until they reach conciousness, then you could send them back to bed and they remained there until 90% ish healed. Sending them to bed again (at 90%+ health) left them in bed, I think.
If the worker is set to passive they will not attack anything unless attacked. I do this a lot with my weaponsmiths and armorsmith to prevent them form making crap items.
Now if I remember right there is a glitch that ignores the passive if animals come to eat your plants. The farmers will ignore their passive setting and engage the animals. You could also have your farmers set to block as well to resist injury.
The thing is the following, int the early game without walls (or just in a scenario soemoen breahces in or I would like to paly the game in an "open town" When some evil guys or animals come and attack I cannot proeprly retreat my characters by tellign them "go here and stay here" without having to delete their jobchains. telling them to go in a house and and closing the door also isn't that easy because those that arrive earlier run out again.
Yes currently you can make some methods that work, like a house full of trainign dummies you can assing them to.
But a simple feature to make them ignore their jobchain but keeping it would just be HUGE QoL in that micromanagement madness that starst to happen in such cases.
You can make (someone) a person with an indoor job like a cook, or just have hime be the one person without a job, or the one person you clear the orders for. I usually have (someone) just *Haul Water* to my water tanks, then when anyone is done with tasks, they follow (someone) and gain athletics as a by product.
Sounds more like a feature request than wanting help.
Honestly though I would rather have my workers defend and get their asses beat. Otherwise they will always be easy targets that just fall down constantly.
For example right now if you are having trouble with river raptors eating your crops and your workers cant defend against them then you are going to have issues later. Like if you move into an area with beak things or spiders then those workers are probably just going to die simply because they got no skills to defend themself and never gained any toughness.
However I do agree a pause job option would be nice for other purposes.
later everything is gonna be fine of course, but early in game, or when you recruit a newbie these things I just utilise. Also, making them fight and make them not stand around in bad places, likepiling properly up before going to combat needs them to not immeadiately return to their work.
I just thought there was such a feature somehow, since there are so many others to toggle as well.
But the lakc of it surely makes is kinda of a a feature requeat now.
Pause Job button is allready a feature request.
Gather everyone in a house.
Keeping making them walk to the back of it until everyone is inside.
Select one person and have them Lock the door.
Select everyone ELSE that is inside the house and keep making them run at the back wall until the door it locked, otherwise they will open the door to get out and cancel the lock.
Once the door is locked relax, The AI will NOT unlock a door to get somewhere, so they will wait until give an unlock order before resuming their automated activities.
search option, which is something we endorse people using more.
you would wonder when you google some thinsg the top results sometimes are like 2014 stuff from the steam forum.
