What does the "CORRUPT INPUT" message mean when it appears on my car? Also, how do you take screenshots?

Bought the game two years ago and started playing it again today, but I can't figure out a few things.

"Corrupt input" is there simply to let you know when something you're trying to use is restricted at the time. For instance, at the very beginning of the campaign you won't be able to jump, and so pressing Space would display the message.

You can take screenshots via Steam. F12 is the default keybind but you can change it in your Steam preferences.

But I get that message whenever I drive left or right using A and D.

And I know the default is F12, but whenever I press that in game it doesn't take any screenshots.

When using the default control scheme, arrow keys are for gas/brake and driving left and right, whilst W, A, S, D and Q are something else, namely thrusters that help you spin your car around while in the air. It gets explained later on in the campaign, but you can always rebind the keys if you're too used to wasd.

Hmm, no idea about screenshots then, perhaps it's a bug of some sort.
