Act III update killed the game.

1. Nerfed all my gear, nerfed my character health, nerfed all god blessings, and massively increased game difficulty for no reason. My top tier items are now garbage. All my MAXED characters now suck and struggle to win a single run on ANY difficulty in Act III. Wtf? Who asked for these nerfs? Literally nobody.

2. Summons are ruined. My summons now die and respawn after a cooldown. Also, my summons can now be turned against me with the new "charm" technique to chase me down with super speed and one-shot kill me. Why? Oh, and to make matters worse, my health and defense were nerfed to ensure I die in one hit to an elite. Wtf? Why?

3. I hate the new random curse that blocks my ability to heal. Why??? You have rendered life regeneration builds and the vampirism god blessing useless.

4. The new bosses suck. The giant toad and giant tree are annoying and not fun to fight. My character moves slower than ever before and the bosses move faster - they literally now jump in the air and lock onto my position - so dodging boss attacks that trap me in a small play-area becomes super tedious. Act I and II had boss fights in a smaller area, but never this small where I can barely move around without getting hit.

5. Infusion and Devotion to a God blessings are dumb. Infusion reduces your ability slot by one and ruins every run by cluttering up your options for blessings. Devotion to a God also clutters up your blessing pool and will prevent you from getting other god blessings that you may need later in the run. It feels like both of these are there to waste one of my level ups. Infusion feels like a cheap FILLER to make up for nerfing my items.

6. New minions suck. Design team: "We're out of ideas!" Moron addresses the group: "Guys, I know, let's just make all the new monsters rush at players and explode!" Design team: "Brilliant! Why didn't we think of that?!" Holy crap, you idiots. DELETE the new ghost minion that rushes at me. ANNOYING. DELETE the pumpkin monstrosity that blows up in my face. ANNOYING. DELETE every single monster that traps me within a small radius and that rushes at me at 100 miles an hour. Just why!?

7. Terrain and movement sucks. Clutter everywhere. You get stuck at a boulder or a random tree and die. You think the boulder will protect you from the boss? Think again! The boss attack goes right through the boulder. Act I and II were better because they had open spaces without clutter where you could just walk in a straight line and enjoy the carnage without thinking. Now I have to endlessly zig zag between boulders and trees to not get stuck. Also, one new tree monster NPC shoots vines out of the ground to further hinder my movement. How tedious!

The developers have LOST THE PLOT. Feeling trapped and banging on the space bar to frantically dodge attacks is NOT the original feeling of Death Must Die. In the past, the game felt chill because it gave me FREEDOM of movement, freedom to breathe and dodge attacks using a large terrain (uhh, hell's domain) to my advantage, but now I am fighting bosses that can one-shot kill me and trap me in a small area where I can barely dodge attacks. It seems every NPC now rushes at me at super speed and the terrain actually now works AGAINST ME. TERRIBLE UPDATES that just destroy the original vibe of the game. I can tell someone new got hired to develop the game because of how different the game feels. There's no way this new update was designed by the exact same development team as before. Someone new is screwing things up.

You had a gem here, but I don't want to play this game anymore. What's the point? When a game isn't fun and feels like a chore, then I quit. Listen to my advice and roll back all the above changes (that's easier than updating this slog-fest and go back to the drawing board for Act III), or Death Must Die will indeed die. I wish you success in fixing the game! It has great potential.

UPDATE - April 26, 11:59 pm: The hotfix patch released earlier today improved the damage gap and fixed some minor issues, but a small fix like this cannot fix the turd that is Act III. Monsters are still way too strong and kill me way too fast. Get rid of "Devotion to a God" and "Infusion" blessings. Get rid of "charm" and other build counters that make the game annoying to play. Get rid of annoying NPCs that rush at me and explode. Get rid of all those trees and useless obstacles hindering my movement. The current state of the game doesn't feel like Death Must Die. Now for the first time ever, I'm stressed playing this game. This used to be a game to chill and relax and bask in the strength of my build. Now my build feels weak and pathetic and capable of dying at any moment. Now every enemy rushes at me at 100 miles an hour from every possible direction, forcing me to always be on my toes. I don't want to manually dodge and maneuver all the time. I want the automated carnage that made this game so special to begin with. THE GAME HAS LOST ITS SOUL IN ACT III. Wtf happened? You ruined a great game. I played for 16 hours these last two weeks and had fun. As soon as I played Act III after the update, my desire to play was gone within 30 minutes. "It's not you, it's me", that's what she said. But she lied. It's you.

At the moment of this review the new content patch dropped and it is a BIG step but in the wrong direction.
The whole premise under this kind of game should be fast paced free movement and power fantasy and its the opposite of what act 3 has brought to the game.
Too many movement and sight obstacles on screen, too many weak and underwhelming power increases offfered by the new locations and unbalanced enemies make for a very bad experience.
The fact that they also nerfed into the ground what was already working in previous patches would be acceptable if what was new on offer was great but this is definitely not the case.
The themes of this new act seems to be "Inconvenience and limit the player" and "you are gonna get hit. A lot. So plan for it" and its just not good game design, even worse in this type of game.

These are just the main issues but i could add a few minor gripes about mechanics (devotion and infusion) and the new characters introduced (the new god and the new playable hero).

Im confident in the devs and i think they may correct the course and learn a lesson from this but at the moment the game is not fun.

You get a nerf, you get a nerf. Everybody gets a nerf!
