Crosshair overlay and other injection third party softwares.
since i'm a giant casual noob, and the game doesn't give enough options for crosshairs. i want to use a programe that injects itself to the game and puts a customizable crosshair on the screen. but i don't know the risks of it. i also want to try other softwares that basically use the injection methode. mainly for capturing 3D scenes and further adjusting the game graphics for the sake of it. what is the situation of such programes? are they bannable and what type of "ban" might occure, a kick from the server or having my game key revoked?

As for not using a crosshair, I don't understand why you'd purposefully make the game harder with no real benefit... But whatever!
Depends on the program.
Typically, a crosshair overlay program would be equally or less “detectable” than FRAPS, due to the nature of the program. It’s just displaying a graphic on the monitor, and in no way at all interfering with any program or software on the computer. Whereas FRAPS actually has more access and versatility due to it gatherthing the fps value and also displaying that on the monitor.

And then, if you were still for some reason sceptical about the safety (of crosshair overlays), a program on Steam can do it https://store.steampowered.com/app/237370/PlayClaw_5__Game_Recording_and_Streaming/

No game would ever detect a program displaying graphics onto the monitor as any sort of cheat. A lot of monitors have built in features that can add crosshairs, and these are literally indetectable because they are hardware based and use no software. The graphics injector/changer programs that CAN get detected are stuff like ENB/reshade/etc since those can actually impact the game itself. And then again, those sort of programs aren’t automatically detected as cheats, because they’re not cheats.
so example: PUBG banned the use of reshade (because while a lot of people were using it harmlessly, some people used it to gain unfair advantages like super zooming in, etc) and had to specifically scan for that particular program.

This +1
It won’t really help in the long run, my monitor has one built in but I never use it because it’s more of a distraction, basically just a green dot in the middle of the screen.

By using it you’re not doing yourself a favour.

my main concenr here is whether or not the system detects and punishes such acts not if it is good or not.

i'll leave the ingame crosshair for dyanmics and the customizable one will be a dot in the middle.

Turn off your crosshair. Believe in me, the faster your insticts learn the middle of your screen, the better it will be.

To answer your question, using a crosshair overlay program won’t get you banned.
I recently stopped using crosshairs, because it interferes with muscle memory and makes you focus on the crosshair and not the game

But using a program that “injects itself to the game” sounds a bit iffy...

...as for 'capturing 3D scenes and adjusting game graphics', there are official means of modding, like making your own level/map or game objects. Though, using 'injected' software in public matches will probably not go over very well. It tends to look like cheating.

I'd say the game is more fun without crosshairs but das just me.

Probably cause the 1st game had no crosshairs.

Pretty obvious that you will be blamed for public discussion about dot crosshair in coop game that allows you to save your teammates from big zeds by accurate hip fire shots.
Crosshair is not bad since you will miss anyway, but aimbot cheat or infinite ammo cheat makes the game boring for others in coop game.

My 1st steam account, 2004 one, was VAC banned for try a crosshair in a random FPS game, exactly what you want to do. That being said, imagine what can happen to your account, and all the games on it, if you try to use 3rd party software for that kind of stuff :D

Have a built in crosshair never used. Always turn off all cross hairs and learn your monitor. The crosshair will only get in your way and block view.

There’s used to be a greylisted mutator that injected its own crosshair but, it can only be used on a server.
