try holding the scroll wheel right when you hit him as berserker or with any melee

It is a gorefiend. What perk are you using? He's got like hyper armor during that ♥♥♥♥.

I would honestly suggest killing him outright instead of blocking but if you've got no choice...

The dark fleshed gorefiends with their double blades like to spam this whirlwind spin ability a lot, especially on PS4.

The best way I have found is to stay clear and run/sprint away backwards. Gorefasts and fiends in general like to shield their heads alot buying some time until you're overrun so kill them as quickly as you can once they get close enough. One gorefiend doing this shielding thing isn't so bad but when you have dozen of them all doing the same your chances of being overrun improves greatly.

Unpopular opinion here, but shooting at their stomach as much as you can until they die is a GOOD tactic. They can't shield their stomachs and they're meant to be tough enemies so kill them surely.

It wastes more of your ammo but it saves time, your HP, gives breathing room to deal with other zeds and prevents the dreaded spin ability. SWAT is good for this job since they're just loaded with bullets. I know people want to kill them clean with the headshots but gorefast are meant to be this tougher variant from clots that takes more bullets to kill. People can't afford the headshots once they're closed in with a horde filling the room with 5-6 gorefiends coming to play. Just shoot their guts to kill them fast.

A lot of the times I have still had ammo left by the end of the wave even after I've killed many gorefasts by shooting them in the stomach.

If you played KFMOD, from Unreal Tournament 2004, you'd see that gorefasts are fast tanky cheesers that slice you dead in a manner of seconds, especially in groups of 4 so people back in the day had to kill them quickly or the gorefast wave would kill everyone. The maps were dense and small and there weren't always room to kite around.

Kill it before it spins.

Sprint away or kill it before it spins. Sometimes you are screwed if it catches you by surprise.

I haven't died to it in a very long time, so adjust your playstyle to accomodate for it, and you'll see results.

And like others have said run away or if you have medic guns (highest stumble power in the game besides SMGs IIRC) then shoot them in the leg to stumble them before they start it (once it's started though I'd just run tho)

Hit em in the legs. They are never blocked.

Only downside to this is that on anything higher than hard (with 6P) you're going to be spending/wasting a lot of ammo with that method, although yes if you're just doing solo it's totally worth it

body shots with demo work great for killing gorefiends

Grenade pistol ftw

Pull out a knife, block and then learn to use a pistol and not get hit.

Apparently they are immune to stumbling during their spin attack, which makes no sense. I can stumble the Patriarch, Fleshpounds, and Scrakes, but a wimpy Gorefiend? No way! Oh, the spin attack can be parried but won't stun them, even though the Fleshpound had a spin attack that could be parried and cause a stumble, I guess Gorefiends are somehow stronger than them.

Anyways, focus them from a distance, hit them in the head, shoot other targets while they block, then refocus them. A Varmint rifle burst fire to the head from a level ~20 Commando with Hollow point should kill them before they block. Worse case scenario, body shot them to death, inefficient but quick. Another thing to note is that Gorefiends seem to have a slower than average stumble recovery, bashing(or shoot in the knees) and stumbling them will render them incapable of blocking their head, allowing for a quick kill(Of course, they ARE in close quarters, which can be unreliable with multiple Gorefiends). If they do get close, try to keep them blocking for as long as possible if you can't quickly take care of them, as they are incapable of attacking while blocking, and don't break their block to attack.

nerfing it

I always sprint backwards when they do that. Getting caught up in that attack, even for beserks (which is good because noobs need to learn when to retreat) is deadly.

Sharpshooter can kill them with one headshot of any weapon before they block, most notably the M14 which dispatches of groups of gorefiends/gorefasts quickly.

Same with gunslinger, except it will normally take two deagle headshots to kill it unless you have 3x rack em up or I think bone breaker might help.

AK12 burst fire or scar on commando are the best ways to kill them before they block.

Demo can use any impact damage to quickly kill it, or the grenade pistol if you still have that for some reason after wave 1.

Firebug can use stumble power to get it away from you and the team, and burn it to death while it stumbles backwards, making it a very useful counter to gorefiends.

SWAT can dispatch of them quickly with the MP5 and higher tier weaponry. Can't say the same for the MP4 though, since it will not decapitate the gorefiend quick enough.

Medic is pretty simlar to commando in the case of the 401. However, medic has access to a shotgun, which is a damage type the gorefiend is weak to.

This leads to support being the easiest perk to dispatch of gorefiends/gorefasts.

And survivalist does whatever because it's lost and looking for a rework to hang with the cool kids.

Oh, and beserks with the nailgun can kill them easily, or using smash and a power attack to their head with enemy beserk weapon before they attack should take it out (depending on perk choices too possibly).

I'm suprised no one has suggested using bash as zerker. When the fidget spinner sprints at you, bash him right before he begins his animation, it will stumble him 100% and then you can unload with light attacks to keep him in a block stance for a little while longer, if you use the level 20 light attack boost skill,, or heavy attacks to knock him over/kill him outright if you have the heavy attack perk. If your good enough, you should be able to get his head off and kill him before he has a chance to attack. That or just back away.

Unloading into their chest is not really worth it at all, considering many weapons will take them down easily with one or two well placed headshots, plus the fact that it is a massive waste of ammo on difficulties like HOE (they take like 35+ P90 shots as SWAT). Any perk can pick up a SG800 or .500 magnum as a sidearm, both of which one shot them.
