I dont see the appeal. I'd rather have a better look at the guns than... idk, the female characters ass? Whose gender you probably picked specifically for that reason?
And also having a FOV that allows you to see over and past walls is just indefensible.
I saw that cyberpunk is most likely only First person and i was so happy.
I cant even go the "give us the option for either!" route
because every game that has that, fails at delivering a good version of either.
The wider FOV is actually part of third person's gameplay niche. Where an FPS puts you right in the head of your character and gives you mostly moment-to-moment decisions, a TPS gives you a better view of the battle field; letting you almost literally step back and plot things out. Think of it like FPS as pure shooter while TPS adds in light strategy.
3rd person is the reason I'm not playing WWZ, nothing better than having bullets not go where the crosshair is when stuff gets close because of 3rd person limitations when playing against zombies constantly trying to get close.
Nothing better than having awkward janky melee that launches you in your movement direction instead of where you are aiming.
I do love how non of the guns have any real recoil or punch when shooting because you are so far removed from the action that they all end up feeling the same.
This is all sarcasm.
3rd person is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blight on what otherwise is really impressive game.
Didn't play too much of the horde mode when it came out the game felt a lot jankier (getting 1 framed, buying stuff that never spawned in etc) but got damn instantly reminded on why I avoid 3rd person like the plague. It just doesn't work - for shooters.
Ok I'll update 3rd person is fine for slasher/melee/brawling because you don't have to be as precise you just move the direction you want to swing in but for a shooter / TPS it's just bad because of the off axis crosshair making you miss shots you are aiming at, you don't get that weapon feedback and the camera is closer more over shoulder than the slashing games so you don't get good control for melee so it ends up being the worst of all worlds...
Shooters should be first person. Third person shooters are a joke.
First person in GTA is not only terrible, but actually creates exploiting with snipers.
you can strafe shoot at x1000 times the speed, in first person.
See GTA is exactly the example i had in mind when saying this:
If I want to just blow up a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of zombies and have a generally more grounded experience, I go for WWZ. Its definitely more challenging than KF2. If I just want a simple fun time and am less focused on tactical gameplay i go for KF2. KF2 definitely wins in terms of polish and general aesthetic I think. Although visually WWZ isn't too shabby either.
