/2Short.
-avoid playing swat, gs, or survivalist who spend alot on weapons and ammo
-sharp and demo pick up the m14, m16 203, or stick to the hx 25 and weld doors as demo
-weld doors in general to pile up zeds behind them and save ammo
-get a support
-wave 1 use the knife and 9mm, save tier 1 ammo for wave 2
-heal people save lives and gain dosh
-before restocking via supports, sell the old weapons and then get ammo for the new weapons
-avoid armor early on from wave 5 and up it's fair game, 4 minimum as low as you can get.
Dont over buy ammo at the trader - if you only need 250 rounds dont spend 400 dosh maxing out if you are saving.
Dont sell weapons with ammo in them - if your starter gun has ammo and you can afford your T2 keep the T1 and use it till its empty
Dont buy armor until you need it - armor is a large investment, typically you dont by armor till waves 5/6+ when you start getting more large zeds spawning.
Dont buy nades if you dont need them - this applies more to certain perks like sharpshooter/swat you dont need your nades in the early game so dont buy them early on.
Dont die - Dying reduces the dosh you get at the end of the wave and stops you from killing zeds and earning dosh.
In trader time if you have finished buying - go and look for ammo boxes - they have set spawn points so once you know the map you can find ammo/armor/weapons pretty reliably and quickly.
If you have a support/demo remember to get ammo/nades from them
If you are a support ask someone to get ammo for your guns for you and if you are playing with friends you can all share weapons to get additional ammo from your support.
tl:dr is dont over buy or buy what you dont need and dont be wasteful, and get ammo from boxes and your team mates if possible.
edit:
and as per usual dont listen to TF2SP - SWAT and GS are great perks for early game - swat gives freebies and has increadibly cheap ammo and is strong against trash which is great for the early waves, GS is also pretty decent early and has a very economical buy path.
Small clot groups (1-3) can easily be dispatched with a heavy swing followed by two light attacks. The Scalpel with Acidic Rounds and Airborne Agent can allow the Medic to engage a few more (4-6?)
If you can catch a bloat by itself, it's meciless to your knife slashes. Same can be said about Sirens.
Speaking of sirens, their biting is actually weaker than a clot punch. Keep this in mind when seeing a siren by itself as they will favour biting over screaming when in melee range
A longer reach harder hitting shovel crowbar thing
Or
Smol knife
I mean, it's still like №1 rule when it comes to saving dosh.
Save ammo on early waves. Try to only shoot at zeds that are your specialization.
Try to skip weapon tiers you know you're gonna be selling after 1 or 2 waves.
Heal teammates. All the time. Doesn't seem like much but it is extra dosh still.
Lastly, ASK FOR DOSH. If you play well, good players will share. And don't forget to return the favor next wave.
