The only bloat you had was third party software that was need to run Quake 2 on modern hardware over the past decades.
There is no need for that anymore (unless you are into modding scene this much).
Like for crying out loud its 2023 and you are complaining about downloading 5 gigabyte.
5 freaking gigabyte. Dear God!
If you are not happy about playing for free a straight up better version of Quake 2 with less crusty textures, improved AI, more customized options and accessibility settings, split screen, crossplay, ai bot opponents, fixed multiplayer, extra content in form of expansions, new maps, modes etc with graphics that doesn't look like MSDOS crap
and doesn't need third party software to run it on modern hardware with addition of downloading soundtrack from random source
at this point why won't just go to Lazy Town website and sing "Yo Ho You Are A Pirate" to download the thing you want so much?
Its like 2 gigabyte or less. You would be done downloading that long before even finishing typing your first question above.
Seriously, gamers™ can complain about anything those days. Even improved versions of video games that they got for free. I will never understand that.
Heck, you can even play original version of the game still. Its not removed or delisted from the store or cost more money than before.
Even when nostalgic gamer™ can play the original version of the game with purchase of remaster they will somehow still find the way to complain about remaster of the game lol
Also I am super curious - why did you hook up your off topic question on random thread instead of creating new thread?
I think remaster fits more when its a game that already has good versions and they just decide to soup it up. Like the difference between final fantasy 8 pc on steam, and final fantasy 8 remastered. Both versions still exist, but the remastered version is completely different.
I am confused by this, having just looked up FF8 Remastered. Whats different about it?
