Mouse Wheel Weapon Swapping
There's only a next weapon button, not a previous and next like every other game on the planet. I can never for the life of me get used to number weapon swapping and using the inventory for swapping guns is even worse. Anyone know if I can edit an INI to somehow change this or something? I've tried many source mods as well so I can play in 1080p and I know stuff like Berserker has normal weapon switching but that changes graphics dramatically. I want the original game, but simply with previous and next weapon swapping. I have tried KMQuake, XP Quake, Yamagi Quake and the Ultimate Patch.

^ Nevermind Mr. 3,000 hours of Quake 2. Doesn't mean he's the only person in the world who enjoys this game. Nothing wrong with wishing we had more freedom when it comes to binding keys on old games. Hell, I grew up playing Doom on PC, and I could never go back to playing with the old, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls.

Anyways, I feel your pain. Using the numbers isn't that bad for me, but when I'm in the middle of a fight, it's kinda irritating. Personally, I bind mouse wheel up & down to "next weapon." That way, if I need to switch quick, I can just scroll up then down (and repeat if need be) to get to the weapon I want to use. Takes some getting used to, though q:

Thanks for the real response, appreciate it. Yeah I tried to get used to that but still couldn't. It's alright though, I finally found out a way to add it in the config so it works like most other shooters. Just add this line: bind MWHEELDOWN "weapprev"

Surprisingly, there is actually a command for it so I wonder why it's not in the menu? Oh well, at least I found a way :) Now I can enjoy the game without issues.

Ahh, thank you! I never dug too much into it, since I couldn't even find a solution for Quake 1. I'll have to remember to try that out. Can't believe it's that simple q:
