Change units to Fahrenheit
Am I missing something here? It was in the previous version, cant find it here though. It cant be that hard to add, I saw post from 2015 about plans to add it, its 2019.

Yes please!

Just get used to celsius, its simpler anyway.

-20 °C is -4.0 °F Cold winter day
0 °C is 32.0 °F Water starts to freeze at that point.
20 °C is 68.0 °F Room temperture.
40 °C is 104.0 °F A hot, summer day.
200 °C is 392.0 °F Just around the mark to cook food in an oven.

Remember those and then you can determine whether or not it's freezing, cold, warm, hot, or boiling.

For Universe Sandbox actually Kelvins will be better (the same scale but with offset - just add 273.15 to Celsius temperature to get temperature in Kelvins). You will know then that there can be nothing colder than 0 and a difference of 273 degrees for temperature of a star is quite meaningless, so you can easily round Celsius and Kelvins for those hot things.

I imagine that they used Celsius as it's a recognized scientific measurment and most data that gets output and recorded for scientific purposes uses the metric system as just about every country in the world uses that system in exception to three misfits the US, Burma (Myannmar), and Liberia it is much easier to just use the Metric system for that reason among others.

It's not hard to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius either simply take the Celsius measurement multtply it by 9/5 (1.8) and then add 32. If you must you can use your calculator on your computer but really it should be easy enough to do in your head.

You know, I've thought this too.

But, like Callipso said, it's recognized as a legit scientific measurment. Not many scientists use F, let alone the imperial system.

And if you didn't know, there are only 3(yes, THREE) countries in the WORLD that use the imperial system.

I'm from the US, so honestly it's really stupid to use the imperial system. It's outdated, and quite stupid to use and when practially the entire globe uses something different...who's behind here? lol

Metric is so much easier.

I think you can deal with it for one game.

So your mad that someone didn't say no directly? It could easily be inferred that it is not in the game and it seems by the way he worded the statement above that he seems to already know that the feature is not there, It makes the question seem rhetorical when you then give the queried suggestion afterward.

ex:

"Didn't the washing machine work yesterday when I put clothes in?! Can't Whirlpool just make a working washing machine... "

In this sort of case you already know the washer was not working you are just turning a rhetorical question to support your complaint. so what you really want answered is why they haven't made a working machine yet.

This is just how I am interpreting this and yes it's not always easy to know what a person is truely asking without being explicit about what they desire answered especially when this is cyberspace and words are all we have to go by.

I thought I'd give him a way to get what he wanted out of the game without actually having to wait for a feature to be implemented, he may not want to convert the units yet it will do the job right away.

This is a game for entertainment, sure it has scientific applications, but lets not pretend NASA is using this for anything. Education is the furthest legitimate extent. Most users are probably just here for the exploding planets and black holes. I dont really want to have to convert C to F, nor does it affect anyone that wants to keep using C. I appreciate the suggestions guys, but I wasnt really asking for any, just requesting Imperial Units because I have a much better idea of what they are. Further, it was said they would be added in 2016. Like it or not, millions still use it.

Y'all need mental help if you prefer imperial over metric
Y'all should be in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camps- ahem i mean "special ed"

or OR we just grew up in america where imperial is the standard because "america doesn't feel like using metric" we are just used to imperial as it is what we grew up with ... personally i would prefer kelvin to be the universal temperature because on that scale zero means zero... but tbh i use kilometers sometimes for measurement and tbh we never really were taught metric as being standard we were taught imperial because america's angsty teen logic of "i want to rebel and use diferent measurements"
EvilFrenchFrog Mar 3, 2019 @ 5:50am
The problem is not metric vs imperial or any other standard, the problem is what base they use. Metric use base 10, and that's all, for any measures ; imperial, use bases 3, 12, etc. and that's really the biggest problem ; if imperial used only, say, base 12, 8 or any other, there would be no problem at all.

If you did that then the other 90% of the players would need to cope with the Fahrenheit system which would be pretty confusing.

you are a bunch of morons for not realizing that you can change the units of temperature measurement between Celsius and kelvin... imperial measurements would simply be another unit of measurement in the list of measurements including earths, jupiters, moons, suns... i mean we use celestial bodies as measurements in this game

We're planning to include Fahrenheit as a temperature unit in our next update (alongside the already available Celsius and Kelvin). No plans right now for including other Imperial units.

just when are we going to GET this next update? because we have not had any pics for 3 months on what progress has been made i mean i know you guys are working on completely overhauling the core game features but we still like some news and some sneak peeks every so often
Jar Mar 8, 2019 @ 1:39pm
I don't want to derail this topic with general development talk too much -- just wanted to say we're including Fahrenheit. :)

Our next update hopefully isn't far away, it'll be a smaller one with improvements & bug fixes and the option to try out a new physics computation mode that is more stable and faster. Plus the option to select Fahrenheit. :)
