Multiplayer?
I see that both Co-Op AND multiplayer are listed. Could this mean that the PC version will have online multiplayer?

Co-op means cooperative play between multiple players. Multiplayer means any other type of play between multiple players (which encompasses co-op but means competitive multi in this case). Neither of those things imply that it's going to be online. That description doesn't give anything away

Online Multiplayer is a very different beast to local Multiplayer. Metanet had a ton of trouble implementing it into N+. As you can imagine, any type of lag whatsoever would compromise the nature of the game, and so they would have to get it absolutely perfect. Metanet chose not to do online multiplayer, and to instead focus on improving and making the other aspects of the game better.

tl;dr No online multiplayer. There is online level sharing and highscoring, but not real-time online play.

Online multiplayer is a really bad idea for this type of genre. Can anyone think of any percision platformers that do it? Mario doesn't. Rayman Legends doesn't. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze doesn't. And those games are made by far larger teams then N++ was. And the reason why they don't is as shomman says, is that the lag would really mess up the gameplay. You can't hide the lag in the ways that an FPS or a sports game can where every button push modifies momentum.

multiplayer and coop are tags for online games only. Thats how steam works. Please, use "local coop" instead. Thanks.

I've never heard that before. Local co-op and local multiplayer are still multiplayer and co-op. Just as much so as online.

There's a category specifically called local co-op (example[imgur.com]). Using just multiplayer or co-op implies online.

Not being able to play online with my friends is a bummer.
But i'm not sure they'd last long before rage quitting anyway :P

Yeah, Steam has now updated their description list allowing devs to include "local multiplayer", for those who ignore to read the description and just buy buy buy, or complain, that the games they love to watch on YouTube (as I do, in terms of watching, that is) are only local.

Hopefully now we'll see an end to all these online threads on games alike, but somehow, I unfortunately doubt this. :/

Oh well...

You probably have done, but maybe pin reasons for?

I'll be highlighting this game on the weekend at my Indie Game Night!
