If you get close enough, they will very often be unable to block with any of their shields, and with the power blade it's incredibly easy to cut off all their arms in seconds without even really aiming particularly well for them, just hit the main body and they'll pop off super fast.
Phalanx + spear (if it gets close enough)
Otherwise Bolt shooter or if recommended 2nd weapon is something else (like mirage for baby squids) then hide behind a building to lure it closer / kill the guys hounding your ally NPC tank/Nix so that they can kill the kraken for you.
Snipe drone projectiles move too fast for it to defend, so if you can get a direct hit with a targeting dart, it is almost entirely guaranteed it will be hit by the drone.
Though having said all that, I am almost certain that using other methods are less awkward, but its the only way I've been able to kill them as Air Raider. They will catch all your limpets, you'll never get in range to use a suppress gun(why are you using a suppress gun?), bomb drones are very slow and awkward(at least the ones worth using)
Well... At least that's been my experience with the Kruul enemies. I haven't fought the Krakens enough to really guarantee that the same tactics will work there.
As air raider , just send 2 drones , they can't do jackshiet to it .
The biggest problem with Krakens especially on Inferno is to deal with the usual Haze clouds surrounding them, as Haze on Inferno is no longer a joke of an enemy.
One of the most unusual weapons for Ranger that works very well on them is the Prominence missile. Quite fun. It also makes you free to handle Haze that will usually arrive earlier than the Krakens.
Wing Diver will have a super weapon that will fry Krakens even through shields, but it's not a slam dunk as it may not work.
For Air Raider, unsurprisingly, the best weapon to deal with Krakens is Bulge. S in particular is awesome due to how long it lasts, to handle several at once. Unsurprisingly, all drones mostly suck to deal with them when you can't use decent weapons, they defend better from frontal attacks and all drones go that way.
Fencer works fine by overheating their shields with Dispersal, and then Spine them to death, couple with movement of course. Spine their shooting legs if necessary.
Have fun,
Otherwise I find that in normal/hard missiles that come from above are helpful, the octobros tend to shield above their heads, giving you a clear shot to de-limb the shield.
Dumb ass backwards tactics I realized as a ranger, (but their first apperance is before the FANG sniper drops).
Fang sniper penetration, does not work on their shields. So why is it good? High damage (double lysander at the time), and high projectile speed by default.
Which means 90% of the time, if they are unaware of you, or ARE but you aim for the opposite side of their face of their shield? Their near instant reaction to block shots, is not instant enough.
Probably works for any other 1.9-2k+ speed "projectile speed approaching REAL bullets instead of slow videogame bullets" weapon with a high damage per single hit. But that was the first time I got to see it. (Why do they always block lysander but are worse at blocking FANG even with similar speeds?)
But "cut off their limbs with gunfire" remains #1
Also the reason they bother me is NOT their shield. What I hate is how they can just decide to dodge flip out of the way even after you freeze their shield. shield stays in place but they stretch to dodge out of the way of punishment. Giving them time to recharge their shields when normally you would have maimed/killed them by now.
Pick a gimmick and stick with it, you want to be a tanky shield tricks enemy but ALSO spam dodge rolls!? You want to dodge out of the way during your "Enemy is vulnerable" window? How shameful can you get. Might as well ask to play punch out where bald bull can side dodge out of the way of your killshot at the last second.
He is asking about... The supersized versions that are the 2nd generation of them, fly in the air, have shields that are much bigger, and weapons that can shoot you from the other edge of the map.
Ohhh, haven't encountered that yet xD. Thanks for blurring it.
