Issues with using a DS4 controller
I know there are a lot of threads with similar topics, and after reading them I couldn't find a fix for the issues that I am having.

I am using a normal DS4 controller, supported by the most recent version of DS4Windows, and I have managed to get my controller to work on a few other of my Steam games after a bit of fiddling.

Now, as for Wreckfest. The game is by no means unplayable with how my controller is behaving currently. The issue lies primarily with the throttle and braking controls, going from 0% to 100% power after pushing the trigger about halfway. It is still drivable, but without ABS the car locks into a straight line after holding the brake for any period of time, and spinning out is very common.

THE ISSUE PROBABLY LIES WITHIN THIS NEXT BIT

In the controls tab in the game settings, it shows 3 different control schemes. Keyboard, XBOX controller, and Wireless controller. When testing out the left and right triggers in the pause menu, both controllers detect input.
The XBOX has a gradual increase in strength the more the R2 button is pressed, while the Wireless goes from none to max the second that any input is detected.

I'm sure that all it takes is finding a way to get rid of the Wireless controller that is being detected.
If anyone can help me fix this issue it would be greatly appreciated!

i also use ps4 controller and to specifically play wreckfest, you don't need any 3rd party software. what i would suggest is to try it without any ds4windows drivers or try to check "hide ds4windows" with all applications closed then run wreckfest and see if that helps. I would also reccomend using a wire as i've also seen this helps.

I fixed this with a way easier method:
connect controller -> start DS4 - > apply profile (if not done automatically) -> start game -> go to settings in game -> controls -> unbind all on either "wireless controller" or "xbox 360 Controller"

the issue is the game is registering both your PS4 controller and the pseudo xbox controller at the same time. This completely fixed my issue when I unbound the wireless controller in settings

If I would find out this earlier or tried to do it from the start. i would save myself some bunch of time.

This worked flawlesly.

I use DS4Windows and tried to even use HidHide to make my DS4 to work without weird issues.

And it was that simple.... just to unbind wireless controller buttons xD

Worth to dig this thread up. It really helped.
I own 3 gamepads. STEAM controller, PS4 DS, XboxONE. My favorite is DS4 and it sucked to not be able to use it.
This simple sollution fixed problems.
I also own T-GTII bit did not yet played on it as I like to use my wheel on SIM racing games. But this game is quite cool SIMcade game so I also will try to play it on a wheel. But for now I will have fun with my DS4 fully working on this game.

Hm but i got the exact same issue and that on 2 different Controllers, one DualSense and one Xbox and im not even running DS4Windows or anything.
Game for me remains unplayable for several years by now, not possible to play it if the Throttle is 100% at any motionrange of the trigger.
Dunno what to do, even had it reinstalled several times, multiple PC systems so far (3 i believe since then) and just nothing works.

Im always curious as of why these things happen, when the exact same game is also delivered on consoles and not suffering any of these issues.
