I mean, I loved JC2 to bits, but even in that game textures weren't that impressive. JC3 looks like a game that they started making right after JC2 release, along with using its assets.
Bulidings on screenshots that I've posted look pretty much identical to JC2 ones.
We got 2015 and that is a big budget game for the love of everything!
These seriously put me off of buying the game now. Another factor that puts me off of buying Just Cause 3 is the feeling that it'll be getting pretty boring after few hours. I mean, yes Just Cause 2 had a HUGE map but it was pretty empty and there was nothing to do aside of destroying some big gas tanks.
Story was shallow and all missions were following the rule of: Go, destroy and come back.
Technically speaking, there isn't something like "next-gen" when it comes to PC gaming as it's a consoles gaming term, but I get what you meant here man.
I would rather call it: "Let's release a 5yrs old game again BABY!" xD.

I clicked the links and looked closely and indeed those textures are horrible... Now I am greatly disappointed in this game, the graphics look like they are from a 2008 game.
Just Cause 3 seriously does not even look better than this 2008 game

Do you guys think Just Cause 3 is just some quick cash grab? I mean it does not even look like the game has tessellation or even ambient occlusion.
Red Faction Guerrilla indeed looks way better than Just Cause 3 and it's 7yrs old now.
JC3 really looks to me like JC2 and that's nothing to be happy about.
Only amazingly looking thing about both JC2 & JC3 is the water, rest looks very bad and is of a very low quality.
Shouldn't actually games' be moving forward as the years go by, not backwards like in this case?
They need to add Tessellation to make the bricks and walls "pop-up" and also add tressfx for hairs or even grass.
TressFx? A huge NO from me from this feature. It was awful in Tomb Raider. Lara was getting out from a pool of blood, her body & clothes were all stained with it and her hair were like freshly washed.
As for tesselation it wouldn't help at all with these awfully low-res and flat textures simply ripped out from JC2.
Correct me if I am wrong but I have read in an article before that Square actually patched or released a new version of Tressfx which is better than the 2013 Tomb-raider version. But right now only the devs knows
as for the textures, I am confident that tessellation can add more realism to them with also accurate shading applied... but yes the floor texture looks like from Counter - Strike 1.0
The Just Cause series has always been focused about a huge map and blowing things up and exploring / enjoying the view even if it somewhat empty
and yes it does get repetitive from time to time and when that happens I switch to another game and come back later it's more like Skyrim which also becomes stale after a few hours. If your focus is more on immersion in a big city then I think Grand Theft Auto is for you
guess mods will have to do that once again.
I never said anything about preferring urban areas over jungles etc.
All I'm saying is that JC2 was really empty, story was horribly shallow, all missions were: "Go & Destroy" and there was absolutely nothing to do other than destroying stuff which had red lines on it.
that's what just cause is all about... just cause chaos and blow stuff up! there's no story about blowing stuff up because you just blow stuff up which is why I made a thread about environmental destruction in Just cause 3 because destruction is a key element in this game.
PS. Let's not create any more offtop here. This thread is about at least 7yrs old graphical quality of the AAA game to be released at nearly the end of 2015.
