True Just Cause 2 -> Just Cause 3 map comparison size!!
A friend with JC2, mooni, helped me with these in-game waypoint-assisted calculations.
-Just Cause 2: 32.95 x 32.95 = 1085.70km^2
-Just Cause 3: 32.77 x 32.77 = 1073.87km^2

The truth has been spoken!

Still more stuff and larger aspect in JC3 :)
I'm all for the diversity and quality of JC3 but I, and others, just wanted to know.

I actually think JC2 was way more diverse but I am loving JC3's map and how colorful it is.
It's smaller! Worst game ever! 0/10!!!

yea JC2 flet more fleshed out and alive, the highway system was super fun.... a lot of things in this game feel like they need far more polish.... rail lines to no where, I think the large bases may be better here... but i felt more like i was in an island nation in jc2, here its just i dunno disconnected i guess

Map size doesn't mean much when 70% of JC3 is water and large portion of northern part is big forests of nothing but copy paste like the chiliad mountains in GTAV. JC2 had larger size and more diversity (wood temple, mile high club, cargoship in desert just to name a few, only thing missing is an oasis) which sets it apart from all other open wolrd games, now JC3 plays like a Mercenaries 2 clone without the airstrikes or memorable landmarks

While we are at it, vehicle diversity is worse, faction mission completely absent, bike handling is still bad, anti aliasing is worse, load time is on par with 2000 era hardware/games, Denuvo out of ass, forced connection/disconnection to SE servers, I could go on and on...

The devs stated prior to release that the map was 'about the same size as JC2' which I took as same or a little less. >12km difference is not a big deal.

This is not new and juicy gossip if you read previews about this game before making your pre-ordering/purchasing decision.

Now having less land mass isn't necessarily a bad thing per se, but like someone above mentioned that if it's mostly bland copy pasta, then that's a bigger issue than losing 12km.

You are joking right? JC2 was crammed with things to do. 100+ hours I didn't even get 75% of the way through the game. JC3 in 50 hours I'm nearing the end...
JC2's box collecting was the major aspect of playtime past endgame.

The map in jc2 was not that diverse it had like 5 areas and that was it. Jc3 has mountins, forests, caves, farms and plaines, the desert type area were they mine stuff and a volcaino.

thats true and even though its smaller in size its so much more detailed that makes exploring actually more fun. jc2 had some really huge empty spaces. tho what i really miss is a snow region with ski lifts n ♥♥♥♥.
Bread-kun Dec 7, 2015 @ 9:49am
I think what I miss most is how you could go and find ♥♥♥♥ all over the place to destroy in JC2. Like you couldn't walk 5 feet without there being something that could be destroyed, just cause. Now in JC3 it's all tied to bases and towns, and there isn't anything in between them.
