You cannot host a server or play with friends!

You used to be able to use hamachi to connect to your friends server, but now because of updates, you CAN'T. There is no legiminate way to join your friends servers anymore. The only way you can play with friends is joining a random server and inviting your friend from there, thats all. Hopefully no more room in hell 2 actually works instead of this one where you can't even play with your friends lan or online...

Listen server hosting via Hamachi is still possible. I used it a couple months back (last update was more than two years ago). One person creates the network, all others join it. Then that person hosts a server via "Create server" on the main menu. After loading the map, the host must enter the next command on the developer console: sv_lan 0. After that, change the map via changelevel nmo_chinatown for example. Once the map is loaded, all people connected to the Hamachi network, must type on their consoles: connect xx.x.x.xx (replace the x with the address of the network created by the host, not their IPv4 address). If you do this, it will work.

Have you checked any guides on how to do this? Cause you didn't even tell us what your problem is, other that you in particular can't host a listen server.

I've tried the listen server thing and the hamachi, I try to connect and it says "connection failed after 4 retries" even copied his IPv6 and tried connecting. Same error always pops up.

You can create local listen servers and have your friends join. Read the guide I linked 2 years ago.

The devs have limited access to the Source engine due to the free license. This is the reason why the programmers can't properly create a Peer-2-Peer system for players to easily host matches like Left 4 Dead 2 for example.

Yes you can. The users above just didn't know how to create one properly and also didn't have the proper internet equipment. You 100% can play with your friends on your own server.
