Xbox controller?
Hi - is it possible to play Fallout 3 in Steam, using an Xbox controller? I run WinXP by the way. I don't mind getting used to the querty keyboard, but I'm NOT an experienced PC gamer... only really played Xbox - any help?
Thank you all.

Thanks - yes, I did that, and Device Manager in System>Hardware recognises it but when I launch the game, there's no option to use a controller, Xbox or otherwise.
Is there something I need to tick, somewhere? Maybe within Steam settings..?
Thanks again.

It should automatically detect, always has for me. I even have mods that require changing some of the layout and I'm actually using a PS3 controller thats been rigged to be detected as a 360 controller by the PC.

Do you have the official 360 controller driver for XP? If not you'll need to get it from the official site here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows

I found that my computer doesn't recognized wireless, even with a cord hooking them up to the Pc, I use a controller with a built in wire.
Or I heard of wireless adapters microsoft was selling for $40

That might be it! It's a wireless with cord attached.
I'll try it with a hard-wired controller instead.
Thank you.

No problem.
If you want to use use a controller for noncontroller enabled games (most steam games are enabled) or just to surf the net, then I recommend xpadder, though some manuel configuration is required for the free version.

Another free mapping tool- to map controller buttons to keystrokes- is Joytokey. I have it working just fine on a few games

I have a (USB wired) 360 controller that works just fine with Fallout 3. In the ingame options menu, select Controls, then tick the 360 controller option to 'yes'. You're good to go.

I find I have to have my wireless controller on before I start the game or it wont work. Just something to consider.

Eureka! I bought a wired 360 controller and hey presto, perfect!
Thanks to all of you who answered. Really appreciated.:)

Wireless won't work with windows unless you get the MS adapter which picks up the controllers wireless signal. The plug and charge USB cord doesn't do anything but charge the controller.

EVERYONE TO USE REDIUS MOD JUST PRESS THE TAB BUTTON EVEN WITH CONTROLLER CONNECTED THEN YOU CAN USE THE READIUS OR PDA!!!!

Has anyone tried using a wireless Xbox one controller with win 10 yet?
I heard they are supposed to work natively but some confirmation would be nice.
