Works fine under Windows 11. Especially if you know how to assign your GPU. FFS.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17209?tab=files Intel HD graphics Bypass package

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?tab=files NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash

I installed the two mod fixes above a month ago when I started playing and the game runs perfectly

I also installed the following for other mods to work properly with FOSE

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913?tab=posts&BH=3 Fallout Anniversary Patcher

description

Fallout Anniversary Patcher

A patcher / downgrader tool for Fallout 3 that makes running a modded game a more comfortable experience.

Features
Downgrades the game from October 2021 update (1.7.0.4) to 1.7.0.3 which is widely supported by other mods, most notably FOSE
Removes Games for Windows Live (xlive.dll is no longer loaded by the game) and removes LIVE button from the main menu
Makes the game 4GB aware
Automatically loads FOSE when using Fallout3.exe to start the game (if FOSE is installed)
Fixes a file handle limit and mod limit bug
New in 1.1: Fixes a crash when using Intel graphics cards to run the game

Compatibility
The patcher supports latest Steam, GOG and Epic Games versions of the game, both GOTY and regular editions.
GOG version does not need to be downgraded or LAA-patched, so the patcher only applies other improvements to the executable as described above.

I just built my pc a few months ago and have never had a problem with this game. Installed and booted right up. Windows 11 has no problem runing this game.

I had issues getting it to work on my Radeon GPU on Windows 11. If you are by chance using an AMD GPU and it's crashing as soon as you hit play roll back your gpu drivers to the final driver of 2023. All of the 2024 drivers for AMD GPUs crash the game. Adding note this is true for both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I purchased FO3 GoTY edition back in Oct. 2023 and haven't been able to play it since. Crashes every time.

We're part of the lucky few.

I have had 0 issues playing the game on win 11. Win 11 is not by choice. Its what came on the prebuilt I modded. I launch the game just fine from the launcher. Chose the correct resolution. Maxed out the graphics manually. Doing the auto detect crashes the launcher. but in game. 0 issues.

Hello

Copy the xlive.dll in the game folder and run the files Falloutlaunchersteam.exe and Fallout3.exe as admin.

Then it should also run under Windows 11.

I remember having to do this on 10. But reinstalling it last night. I had 0 issues on 11 which surprised me.

If you have AMD radeon card you should use year 2023 drivers (23.12.1). Any driver released in 2024 will not work with this game. Maybe this will be fixed in the future but as of April 2024 game just crashes when you try to start new game from the main menu.

Runs fine on my W11. I did have to limit the fps to 60 in Nvidia control panel though. Everyone was moving way too fast.

I think people, including myself, are a bit tired of the "Well if its not working just download these side programs from random people/websites, go into the program files, copy/paste them in, run these other programs as admin, sacrifice a cat, hop sideways and spin three times, learn to code, then spit in the air at the sun, and it just works bro. Newb." When you are buying a game like this from multi-billion dollar companies sold by the most popular game purchasing client host, itself making billions, ♥♥♥♥ like this shouldn't have to be done on basic computers. Like Todd Howard said, "It just works."

I'm running Win 11 and it works perfectly fine on my end. Though, I have a personally made system with Ryzen Tech (lol). Maybe tick the compatibility mode on it for yourself.
