Game freezes suddenly and I'm forced to shut down computer

This has happened twice now, its happened while entering/dealing with combat. The game freezes, still plays sound but not of the fight. Pressing alt+4 doesn't do anything, trying to bring up task manager isn't possible, so I've had to manually shut down or, like I just did this second time, chose restart from the ctrl+alt+del screen.

Is there a fix for this? When I looked for a solution yesterday I mostly saw it regarding screen freezing every now and then, not necessarily it stopping the game.

ctrl+alt+del -> log out -> everything shut down -> log in -> reload last saved file.

there is no fix on for this problem, anti freezing mods can reduce the chance but you cant escape from this sadly.

The GOG version also does this as well, At Kiss,m least you can log out, I have to hard restart every time this bs happens.

Sign out, log out, restart, shut down, whatever, the fng thing locks up COMPLETELY as in 100%, only solution is hitting the reset button, not a big deal once every 3 hours, but every 5 gdamn seconds? Fix the fng ♥♥♥♥, and Fallouts 1,2 & tactics work FLAWLESS, so suck on it, "Its an older game" crowd. I'll repeat for the 50th time, I followed EVERYTHING in Benwah's pinned thread, the ♥♥♥♥ didn't work.last 3 things to try is removing Freezeout 3 completely and reinstall the GOG version and see if it will work right, else I guess I have to dig u an XP machine somewhere.

It sucks cause I want to get into this game, I hear so much about it and from what I've been able to play I get why its loved but this is making really hard to want to play it. I talked to a friend and he said this is why he stopped playing it and its like...this has only happened the few times but I'm slowly reaching that same point of just throwing the game down and not touching it any more.

I wish Bethesda would realize how much of an issue this is for old and new fans for the game.

This is EXACTLY what needs done, I'd happily rebuy it if they did this. I will say the GOG version doesn't have GFWL on it, 30 days to try it and refund it. The steam version WILL be a problem, GOG version MIGHT work? I say give it a try. I just tried fallout 1,2 & Tactics (Best freind never did return those years back when I let him borrow them) These work just fine, so stick it, freezeout 3...

After repeated freezeout 3 bs, I start a NEW game, 6 hours and no freeze, perhaps my carryover saves from the reatil disk version are f'd up.
