They both are good games with there own strengths and weaknesses.
Best thing to do is to download the demo and try yourself and to completely ignore players that say either revelations sucks or res evil 6 sucks.
Make your own judgement.
Last 3 RE was shooters with linear levela and no backtracking and quest elements, and absolutely no horror.
New RER has some of shooter elements but its all about advventure and quest, especially if you turn off map and will never look at it!
This game needs you to discover places, go back many times to open new doors, search for keys etc. Its dark and moody and a little scary/ Also you need to take care about ammo and herbs to survive.
RER feels like mix of RE4 + RE 1-3 and Cold Fear, The thing and Dead Space.
Its really the best RE sincce code veronica X, RE zero and RE 1 remake.
Also controls, if you played RE4, 5 and especially 6, you know that controls there just freaking awful clunky disaster, ugly uncomfortable UI add more frustration - worst enemy in RE6 was not zombies or monster, controls and UI and general clunkiness of everything was that enemy.
RER meanwhile have absolutely comfortable intuitive controls an UI which you dont need to fight against.
I really wish CAPCOM to patch RE6 with comple overhaul of controls and UI and make them just like in RER.
Oh yeah, RER HAS NO QTE!!!! This is best part, you just enjoy cut scenes and dont need button mash every 5 minutes like you do in RE4-5-6. QTE in RE6 was terrible, timings and UI of QTE that covered entire screen with blue waves and annoyed you with DING sound, no such crap exist in RER and this is awesome!
While i agree with you on some other aspects, i notice how this info is incorrect. "Also controls, if you played RE4, 5 and especially 6" Are you implying that RE6 had the worse controls out of those 3? really?! RE4 was barely playable on the PC, in RE5 you moved around like a tank and in RE6 they finnaly gave us fluid controls!
Honestly RE6 still has the best controls out of the bunch, dodge is not "hit or miss" like in revelations, we had melee combos in RE6, while revelations has none.
What exactly you want Capcom to "patch RE6 with"? control-wise everything from Revelations is included in RE6.
As for the UI, i can only think that you maybe didint liked the "PDA/Tablet/whatever" on the bottom right (or left) of the screen.
I do like Revelation's in-game map tho.
I actually did not like anything about UI in RE6, it covers center of sreen when you select weapons, everything in real time, slow and clunky - you really feel out of control in this game, while in RE5 with smaller and more effecttive UI and controls u felt control over game.
Melee combos really bad in RE6, they are not fluid - they have fixed animations that doesnt not count enemies nearby and once you started melee animation you are screwed if another enenemy nearby, also due of clunky hitzone detection, camera behavior and controls and bad trigger placement you are beating air instead of enemy in many cases (most frustrating part if when you start hiting falled enemy, and he starts to stand up, both animations unsynched and instead of correcting position to surealy hit the enemy, you hitting the ground and once your hit animation ends this enemy jumps on you and hits you to death - how fun is that?), Seriosly dude, most of people gave RE6 low scores becasue of controls, ui, poor synch of animation and clunky feel, and you defending what many-many people notticed and criticized, are you blind fanboy or what?
If you want to see really good fluid melee combo conrols and animation that does not have that clunky feel - try Batman Arkham, maybe this will clear you mind from blind love to RE6.
Also melee that does one-hit-one-kill while you can do the same with fireweapons - felt realy overpowered in RE6, everyone plays this game like some Super Street Fighter 6 instead of Resident Evil 6 - run and melee everyone - this is so lame.
Another bad part was knife - instead of altt attack for any weapon when you not aiming (like you can do in RE4 and RER), it placed as separate weapon and due of slow adn clunky combo of controls and ui whne you have to swap to knife before you hit someon, you have to spend at least extra 1-3 seconds on this, and this gets you killed in many cases, same with grenades, instead of making them as separate attack which is always ready, you have to select them in same clunky UI and in scenes like church battle (leon c2 p1) its leads to endless frustration.
RER has no problems like this - UI is minimal and in corner, does not cover you FOV, knife is instant hit for any weapon if you arent aiming, which is fast and fluid, grenades and anything throwable is separate button which does not change you main weapon.
Also change of weapon or grenade is instand in RER, while in RE6 until you will quit clunky UI weapon would not be changed.
To put it simple in RER al you need to do:
1) Press next\prev weapon\grenade button - weapon selected isntantly, no screen cluttering happens - both has separate buttons, knife hits when no aim mode on - takes like 0.1-0.3 second
2) Start to aim
In RE6 it feels like this:
1) Open selection menu - 0.5 seconds, screen covered by UI can see anything behind it
2) Select weapon or item - another 0.5-1 seconds and both can be used with same button, so only knife, or weapon or throwable
3) Quit selection menu - 0.5 seconds
4) Start to aim
If you need to Shoot 1 time, throw grenade and then do weapon hit, then melee, then shoot again,
thats how it happens in RER
1) Press LT+RT and AIm 1-3 second - shoot
2) Press RB and Aimd - 1-3 sec - throw
3) Press RT - 0.1-0.3 sec - knife hit
4) Press Y - 0.1-0.3 sec - melee hit
5) Press LT+RT and AIm 1-3 second - shoot
Chain of actions performed in 3.2 - 6.6 seconds
And thats how you do this in RE6:
1) Press LT+RT and Aim 1-3 second - shoot
2) Press dpad up or down (do of infinite scroll you dont have fixed direction and placement is always random so that time it takes can be longer or faster fron time to time) and select throwable 1-5 seconds
3) Press LT-RT and Aim 1-3 second - throw
4) Press dpad left or right (do of infinite scroll you dont have fixed direction and placement is always random so that time it takes can be longer or faster fron time to time) and select knife 1-5 seconds
5) Press LT-RT and Aim 1-3 second - knife hit
6) Aim (or you will hit the ground or air) and press RT - 1-3 seconds (+high chances that you will hit the ground or air) - melee hit
7) Press dpad left or right (do of infinite scroll you dont have fixed direction and placement is always random so that time it takes can be longer or faster fron time to time) and select weapon 1-5 seconds
8) Press LT+RT and Aim 1-3 second - shoot
Chain of actions performed in 8 - 27 seconds.
Now you see the major difference between controls and UI of RER and RE6 ?
Actions in RER even when performed slowest way takes less time than you need to perform same actions the fastest way in RE6
3.2-6.6 seconds agains 8-27.
Key point - RER has UI that does not cover your screen and fast responding to your actions, and usage 3 separate buttons for throw, melee, fire\knife + combination of knife strikes with any weapon while you not in aim mode.
Thats whant needs to be added into RE6 to make it feel better (as well as correct animation synch during melee, its pretty awful!)
Well, my calculation not very accurate, but they represent major difference in UI and Contols organisation in both games.
it's still a good well made game imo. i enjoyed it. best one since re1.
ps stop it with at ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tap the button wiggle the controler rubbish it adds nothing to the game. do sony/microsoft/pherial providers pay devs to put these things in their games?
Well, i have never touched any of those games with a gamepad, so i am sorry if i cant fully understand your whole argument, the only time i EVER enter the inventory screen in RE6 is to combine herbs, which takes about 1 second (and its quick, since the game auto selects green herbs). Select weapon is done by mouse wheel or binds, so no time being wasted there, granades also have their select button (which cicles through them).
RE4 was a mess with keyboard & mouse and i dont think we need to beat on the dead horse, RE5 was very clunky with the inventory management (everything was thrown into the same inventory, so you would have to cicle through your Pistol,Rocket Launcher, Spray and Golden Egg to get to your frag granade. Also having to stop to shoot was very annoying (it worked in older RE titles, but if they are going the "action" way, might as well make things fluid)
I am not a RE6 fanboy, my favorite game in the series is RE1, i just had to come to RE6's defence because it felt to me that it was the best game in terms of controls (again, i only played them with Mouse & Keyboard) and you were simply telling lies, but i guess there is a huge cap between playing with a gamepad and traditional keyboard & mouse.
I agree melee animations commonly get screwed up, but also happens in both RE5 & Revelations (not as much in revelations because it only has one melee move tho) but they are not one hit kill, unless you shoot some of the monsters in the head, but then again, it has been like that since RE5.
As for trying Batman Arkam Asylum, i am talking just about the RE series, so to me RE6 has the best combat controls in the series. I dont like Batman and have no interest in trying out any of the games.
