When Do Enemy’s Allow You to Melee?
I’m new to this game, and no finishers have appeared yet, even with headshots. I’m used to RE4 so if anyone could explain the new Melee system to me.

You have to stun them.

Each enemy can be stunned one way or another. For example, the Ooze (standard T-AV zombie thing) can be stunned by shooting his arms untill they "hang" like they are broken. If you break both arms he will stand there stunned for a bit.

Run up to him and hold your attack button to full charge = profit. A kill without wasting as much ammo.

Again, each mob as a sweet spot to stun them. Most do anyway.

Not all enemies then? Got it. Just fought the wolf’s in chapter 2.

Now that you mention it, I am not sure you can stun the wolves. It's been a while since I have played it. But yeah, most can be stunned one way or another.

Two attacks for melee. Press your fire weapon input without aiming to swing knife or whatever your character's melee weapon may be. You can easily dance around Tricorne oozes who are very weak to melee attacks, You can also dance around the standard and Pincer oozes, but this is riskier by far. Melee swings are best used to finish off an enemy that needs one tiny hit to kill, to save ammo.

The blowfish in Raid should be handled with melee swings exclusively. One shot to stagger, then approach and melee until it dies. The piranha type enemies and dogs are also very weak to melee swings if you can corner them. Shoot a hunter/ooze with a shotgun to hit the floor, then melee swing to conserve ammo. Some characters have vey fast, but weak melee swings. Others have extremely strong swings, but are slow. Jill is actually quite good and better than most due to extreme speed. Ooze Rachael or Parker scuba outfit have the strongest I believe, but are slow. Keith is really good for melee as well.

Now a physical attack can only be done on a stunned enemy. Like Daemoc said shoot an ooze in both arms to stun them. Their tongue will fall out as they are stunned, as they are immediately disabled due to Jill's wetsuit, Racheal's bust, or Ada in a dress :steammocking: Joking of course, shoot both arms until one staggers then shoot the other. Approach stunned enemy for a prompt. Hold it as long as possible assuming nothing will hit you, or the enemy won't get away from the hit.

Scagdead can be easily set up for a physical attack with pulse grenades, as well as most enemies. Shooting a hunter while it's running or jumping will flip them, allowing a physical attack. These attacks do massive damage, and can be positioned to hit other enemies with good timing. You can also try to line up a crit hit by performing the attack at certain angles.

The best thing about physical attacks is temporary invulnerability for your character during the execution (still vulnerable during wind up.) With all the different characters with slightly different attacks, it's really interesting.

I haven't used a physical attack on a Scarmiglione (Shark Knight,) Draghignazzo (The two-headed armored club arm goofy thing,) Sea creeper, Blowfish, Piranha, suicide Chunk Ooze, Wall Blister, or Fenrir (dogs.) Interested to know if these can be set up for a physical attack?
Daemoc Feb 2, 2018 @ 4:25am
The Draghignazzo (conch thing) you can stun by shooting his (hand?) when he raises it to do the ground pound thing. But to be honest, I usually just shoot him in the head while he is down. I mostly just use grenades on those guys anyway.

But yeah, trying to melee a wall blister or suicide ooze would not be a good idea. :)

Thanks. I was used to the headshot stun method from 4. Now I know to look for other weaknesses. Is the online mode still active?

Can you help with dodging? The instructions say to press W or Space when you’re about to get hit. What is the timing for it?
Daemoc Feb 2, 2018 @ 6:01am
It's best to practice on the basic ooze. just stand in front of one and wait for it to attack.

As soon as he starts to swing, hit w. It was kind of weird at first, but you will get the hang of it. Certain characters in raid have a bigger "dodge" window. Using a "light" weapon helps as well.

I tried it earlier, but I walk into him right before taking damage. I guess it’s just practice.

Aye, it is all about timing. The first stage in raid is a good place to practice. There is no penalty for wiping in raid. Any ammo/items you use will be refunded if you die.

Yes you can melee then both, but I mean can they be set up for a physical attack? The button prompt for massive damage.

I use a controller and dodging may or may not be easier with the analog stick. You can't dodge while you are aiming, shooting, swinging melee weapon, or throwing a grenade. The best time to dodge in when you're caught reloading. I just wish this game had reload cancels.

You can melee it, but most people just use the basic grenades since they do more damage than anything else on them.

It is possible to stun a Scarmiglione too. Stun grenades work, but it also stuns if you do damage to it a lot of times (essentially, chip damage). It can only stun if it is still whole, though.

I used a physical attack on a whole Scarmig the other day, confirmed.

About the Draghignazzo - Yes you can melee attack it. But can you button prompt stun physical attack? Jill's spin kick instead of a knife thrust. I assume the time to do so would be when it falls over, yet I have never seen a button prompt to attack. I'm guessing it's not an option for Draghigs.

When you stun Norman, do you usually go for the physical attack or shoot his backside weak spot?

Is Norman the final boss? I just stun his red weak spot on the front, and then shoot the back.
