Also, there are the residentevil.net challenges that often have guaranteed high and superhigh grade weapon rewards if you can beat the top tier requirements.
Until you hit character level 50, it is pointless though, since it is the point where you can start farming the Ghost Ship for level 48-49 weapons or the bi-weekly REnet challenges in hopes of them giving a good reward.
As for the skills, pick a weapon category and use the most insane buff for it. Pick Raymond for pistols, Lady HUNK for magnums, Ninja Keith for melee, and so on.
If you want to upgrade a magnum, then:
5 times upgrade its Firing Speed that is: 5 x 600000 BP = 3,000,000 BP,
25 times upgrade its firepower: 25 x 270000 BP = 6,750,000 BP,
1 change tag to Speed shot, steady hand or whatever, at lease 450000 BP
That is 10,200,000 BP in total, but the max BP you can hold is 9,999,999 BP only.
So think in this way, you have to keep playing GS mission nearly 50 times to earn this amount of BP, but just upgrade a single magnum! Unless you can have no damage each time (750000 BP), then you only need to run 13 - 14 times.
Of course if you are professional, then lower your level to 40, a no damage GS speed run may let you earn more than 1,700,000 BP. So those players earn BP just like drink water. So easy!
Once you upgraded your lovely magnum, then equip those parts and used by Lady Hunk:
Lt. Hawk with speed shot tag (4 slots): Gluttony 5, Auto-loader 5, Full Burst or Burst 3, Auto-shot or Damage 6 or Fire Rate 4.
Python with speed shot tag (5 slots): Fire Rate 4, Gluttony 5, auto-loader 5, full burst or burst 3, auto-shot or damage 6.
This is what you call "Fast and Overpowered Weapon". All enemies will be down in front of you except Ghost Norman.
There are melee builds relying on Ninja Keith, I ran for a long time with a Parker's Government build with Jill 2 and O'Brian, because both have 140% bonus on reload speeds, making the reload last only milliseconds.
There are the Muramasa builds with Jessica 1 and the Drake builds with Parker 3. Heck, some people even run High Roller base builds with HUNK. Some also just use Jill 3 with whatever weapon they can get at high ranks as she has the best stats (minor shotgun penalty and enemy damage penalty).
The important thing is to find your play style first and the weapon you like to play with, then adapt the chosen character and weapon drops accordingly. After you hit level 47+, that is.
Legendary Parts like Full Burst, Gluttony, and Autoloader turn the most basic weapons into fully automatic gatling guns.
Simpler Parts like Ammo Magnet, Giannt Rabbits Foot, Daze, Knuckles, Firing Rate, Reload Speed, Piercing... all have a role to play too.
It's all about making the most with what you have available. The god-like power most players put on display is only available to them because they finished the game a long time ago, it's not realistic to compare any player under level 50 to someone like that.
Most of these players have done enough runs that they would have reached level 50 tens if not hundreds of times by the time they gained all the weapons and parts they use to build these extraordinary weapons.
You can approximate that kind of power, but you can't match it unless you put in way more time to grind the loot.
OR "Thunder Raptor" (30+) w/ Full Burst, Piercing, Damage, Reload, Critical Hit, Beast Damage.
Those Magnums are what you see a lot of purple names use.
"Lindwurm" (30+) w/ Full Burst, Piercing, Damage, Reload, Critical Hit, Beast Damage.
OR "Sledgehammer" (30+) w/ Full Burst, Piercing, Damage, Reload, Critical Hit, Beast Damage. Those Shotguns are what you see a lot of purple names use.
"High Roller Mk II" (30+) w/ Fire Rate, Piercing, Damage, Reload, Critical Hit, Grenade Launcher. OR "Marauder" (30+) w/ Fire Rate, Piercing, Damage, Reload, Critical Hit, Grenade Launcher. Those Machine Guns are what you see a lot of purple names use.
Make sure that you look for those rare weapons, and make sure they are titled in "Red" text, lastly make sure that they scale to the max level "lvl 50". You can obtain the "Grenade Launcher" part by getting the Trinity bonus on the lvl 44 stage "Zenobia" located in the "Abyss" row. Which can be unlocked by completing all the "Chasm", and "Trench" stages of Raid Mode. You can unlock all of the other parts by simply playing and beating the Ghost Ship stage. If you have trouble completing that stage alone, grab a friend to help you. Another thing you might want to keep in mind is, pay close attention to each of the character's stats. They too can provide major benefits to further maximize your play style.
Also, a few weapons have their slot number capped anyway; for example, a Lightning Hawk/Thunder Raptor is capped at 4 slots. If you can live with that limitation, it can be a better generic weapon than a Python/Serpent though.
