What is on everyone's gameplay wishlist?
Things that you want to see improved in the gameplay specifically, so not new features. Just curious what people want more of from it.

removing passive defensive options and replacing them with active defensive options. Defend in this game is way too boring. make shields breaks with smash attacks giving spot dodging a reason to live. Something to reduce the boring defensive strategies in this game.

In order from most to least wanted:
  • Let me fight bots or friends or something while queuing for a match. If I gotta wait half an hour for a match, don't make me watch a spinning ring the whole time. Heck, maybe we'd get more people queuing for the quasi-dead modes if they could play a different mode while waiting to find a match...?
  • Remove perfect shields. If you block something with a shield, you should take shield damage. Perfect shields are generally going to be flukes, because if you were going to call out someone's attack with frame-perfect precision you'd just use a parry.
Parries have startup frames so they're arguably not a perfect replacement, but that's its own kettle of fish.
  • Weaken crouch cancelling and floor hugging. I can see its interest in increasing survivability, but if you get hit in the face with a launcher you shouldn't be able to grip the floor and immediately deliver a riposte. I see people defend it as a mechanic of the game, I've never seen it defended as fun. Even a couple longtime Melee enthusiasts I play with (who floorhug as second nature) admit that it's not really a fun mechanic.

- I don't have much to complain about aside from the texture bug tbh.
- I know it's a meme to hate on Clairen at this point, but it feels like they made her tippers much easier to land. Or did they make the hit-stun from them longer? Whatever it is it just feels unfun to fight Clairen sometimes because you spend so much time getting stunned. I don't remember it being this bad in RoA.

SHIELD NERF

If we're gonna add shields at least make it in a way that makes old Rivals players happy. I loved the action-packed constantly offensive nature of the first game, and this game completely lacks that.

Make them shields SHATTER if they're used too often! Also, actual punishments for shield breaks rather than just being launched up, thanks.

Also, the odd difference between S-Special fall and U-Special fall is just that - odd. During one, you arbitrarily cannot wall jump. I'd prefer ledges to be gone, a nerf to wall jumps in general, or a general recovery nerf to make it so you usually expend everything just to get to the ledge. All of this would be better, imo.

This game needed more time in the oven. The lack of fighters compared to the first game is staggering. It's dyin'.

I made a post about this in the nolt.io for suggestions.
I wish you could get better clarity of where Kragg's rock is when you throw it up.

More than anything, I would like fixes to the bugs that have been going on for a while: the texture degradation bug (even though I don't have this one myself) and the offline game pause-after-match-end bug (where hitting start too quickly to try to advance to the next game will softlock the game instead), most notably. I'd also like any sort of optimizations they can make to improve the way rollback functions, since it seems to be consistently worse than one would expect from their connection.

I would also like some changes to some of the extremely odd hitboxes that hit well behind characters or cover them with large disjoints in directions they aren't attacking in, like Clairen dsmash protecting her shoulders (even in the opposite direction of where she's slashing), or Ranno bair hitting extremely far underneath him.

I do feel that Clairen and Zetterburn are just kind of mashy (Clairen especially) in the current state of the game, but don't really have a concrete suggestion as to how to improve them.

It would just make more sense to just add shield poking, but make the active frame timer for parry and dodge faster, effectively making shield a risky defense option rsther just one you can spam.

Improve readability of Floorhugging. Crouchcancel got the boowomp sound and green arrows atleast but Floorhugging is hard to tell when it properly happens since it seems to just use the SSDI visual aimed down. If it had some thud as the character collides with the floor I think it'd help coach the attacker and defendant into whenever it happens

She should definatly be less forgiving imo, maybe make a mechanic where the hitbox of her tipper gradually decreases each time she whiff but starts off really big s, or some outside meter goes down depending on how many attacks you miss, and only gets restored on continuous tippers, so all the spammy gold clairens I run into don't feel incentives to just camp under platforms and spam tilts so often, but at the same time give her faster falling, but a bit lighter to balance her out, and not so much a floaty, so she doesn't feel too under-powered, incensing actual style, precision and skill.

Cool idea, I'd like to see that happen.

Ok now apply that same idea to every other character who does nothing but spam their gimmick- oh wait that's the whole cast. Punish fleet for missing arrows, punish zetter for whiffing shinespark, punish orcane for whiffing puddles. What a garbage take lmao, every character is cheap and just has one strategy they wanna spam while plat and ledge camping, that's what happens when you make defensive tools oppressively good and punish players for winning interactions in neutral because lmao, crouch cancelling.

- Bigger maps, so you won't fall from edge moment you start running.
- Map hazzards, best to be random, so it could change battle.
- Story!?
- Better machmaking.
- Better immersion for newbies.
- Faster content updates? Takes a while to add a single character that WAS existed in first game :/
