sadly its the same in every rank. i am not new and still have issue to find people in my rank.

the game made a few weird choices that make everything but top level play very annoying. ASDI down is most likely the biggest issue here.
people always argue that you should not worry about casual/non pro players when designing/balancing a game, yet this is the prime example for what happens when you do.

Yea I think the game is great its really fun when play aginst friend locally but ranked nah I decide to uninstall either way as its only annoying me now since most of the time I find my self playing ranked and if it happens that i get friends come over i can still install it agian
Feels bad bro, stay tuned for some of the single player content on the road map though. Workshop and a sub space emissary campaign will be in this game.

is not that, you could also watch some pro players play your main and try to get some pointers and get better. It is rewarding to see yourself improve over time.

that is true but if I compare the amount of grind and effort i have to put in just kinda feels not worth it.

I picked this game up at launch, as a long time Melee and Project M player. But one who hasn't been playing as much in recent years (except for some Slippi in melee now), and a as a player who really doesn't compete. I enjoy competitive-style melee, but I don't exactly play to win.
I was hoping this would re-ignite that fun, but this game is just too hard for me to enjoy. It never clicks, I never have fun. It feels like comboing is like trying to juggle a medicine ball, and I'm just not fast enough or skilled enough. That and I was never into pre-determined combos anyway, I prefer free-form and just goofing around. This game lacks any of that fun, it's pure hardcore elite Fox player stuff, but for all characters. I just can't get into it.

Yea fast characters are a really pain in the ass specially because I don't feel a real difference between a heavy and a light character. I remember when playing smash (I barely played smash) characters like bowser gandorf (probably butchered his name) can beat light weights easily half way towards 100%. Here I keep punching these light weights off map sometimes reaching 200+... I donno obviously I have to git gud but not worth the time and effort.
Sorry to hear that man. You might have a better time around days when new characters come out because there might be a spike in player count, but I can’t confirm

tbh, this is the second worst game to learn the genre, right after melee. not that there are better options to play, since the "easier" entries all have their own issues (like horrible netcode for ultimate). i really wished for this game to be a good entry point into the genre to grow the community outside of smash, but the game mainly focuses on the very upper skill bracket of the community. for someone like me, who has thousands of hours in the genre, this is fine. but even i feel the problems.

It's definitely not the same in every rank. I've really only heard of badly lopsided matchmaking like that at the extreme low and high ends of the pool. Anywhere else, you'll almost always get someone within 100 points of you and probably have a pretty close match.
I'm floating around 1100 and regularly get people within 20 points. I've only seen crazy rank differences on masters streaming getting players 200 less because they can't que anyone else lol

I am around 700 and get people around 900 once I got 1100. For new people like me it's crazy. I feel like everything above 900 figured the game so it's all above grind. I feel like.

One way to look at it is that you can't really improve fighting people your exact rank, you have to fight people better than you to get better otherwise you won't really learn anything new.

It may be a bit discouraging, but playing against someone better than you will, over time, make you much better than only playing people at your skill level. Just make sure you're doing your best to make the most of each match and learn from any mistakes/your opponent.

I see where you comr from but this is like matching a silver with a global elite in cs2, he won't learn anything if he doesn't even get the chance to do anything. Just the other day I had some Kickstarter supporter guy with Claire literally toying with me around.

There is no learning in that. Sure if the guy is 800ish and I am early 700 I have no problem it's a good challenge but as soon as they get 900+ close to 1000 or even beyond its just no fun and I am being force pushed back to 600 because I couldn't beat 900+ players (?) that doesn't make sense. I am not blaming the game it's just the lack of player base sadly.

Solutions would be lowering the price for sure I have so many friends who don't buy it because of the price. Do I think the price is worth it? Ofcourse I do I bought it on launch but for some people it's not convincing. For the sake of convincing people I would put the price to 10€ or maybe even 5€ I know it sounds crazy but there is no point in the first place if you not getting an active player base atleast above 5k.

The highest i've been matched into (and won, pog) was 1490 maypul but it's a good matchup. I'm between 1180 and 1280 depending on the day and i'm constantly fighting people at like 1380, and occasionally people in 1020 who fight suspiciously well.

I don't really get how the matchmaking works but it's a hard call right? like if there's NO ONE good to match me with, does the game just error out and give the impression of a dead game w no players? or does it match you into a super soldier you are going to get dismantled by? The latter is unfortunately a better call.

I think the awful range possible would be ok if you didn't lose so much for it. It's like 2 or 3 games of misery, and then you lose like 4? why not like 1.

I dunno feels bad

I feel the same way, controversial opinion, but I actually think this game should be free, letting plays choose between maypul, zetter, or orcane as a starter like pokemon, with alot of filler / ugly base skins, and somewhat of a grind to get all the characters. Even if the cast is currently low, adding a supporter pack of 10$ to fully purchase all the characters and future characters would of been okay.

The game could even include a season pass that is 20$ allowing you access to all the future single player content and some shop micro-transaction boosts like the up coming campaign and arcade mode enhancements that was introduced in the first game.
