it certainly is an issue, specially when matchmaking starts taking longer and longer whether its 1200+ or 300+, you should´ve mentioned that in your post as otherwise you will only get the same kinds of posts that were posted before mine
Anyone that tells you to ignore player count is always overdosing on copium until the game stops getting updated or shuts down service.

People are getting the info from Steam Charts:
Multiversus Player Count: (699 at this time)

Rivals of Aether 2 Player Count: (1213 at this time)

Wow. Almost double.
Honestly, at this point, the people calling this game dead are just doomerists. The devs are trying their best with this game, and I hope it will get better in the future.
This game definitely has a lot of problems, I've been quite vocal about here regarding the shop in particular. However it's undeniable that this game is a labor of love, and it's impressive its been made with a tiny budget compared to Multiversus. Especially since it has no legacy characters that have been around for decades like Batman to help them advertise the game. This should be a testament to how well made Rivals 2 is as a fighting game.
It definitely helps that the dev's seem to understand what makes platform fighters fun, and ensure every character remains somewhat viable for competitive play, unlike so many other fighting games in general.
