Any difference between this and the EG store’s?
Hey all, recently picked this up on sale since I figured playing it on Steam would be a much, much smoother experience than on Epic’s storefront, being that I already own it there too. I’m already aware of the many different launcher/ DRM problems that plague this specific rerelease of the game, but I just wanted to make sure if this one is any different from the EG store version. I plan on playing this through my Steam Deck if this also helps.

Hey Spruce,

Thanks for reaching out!

In essence, they should be the same game.

How are you getting on with it?

Prefer this version over the Epic store's, primarily because it's much easier for me to launch on my Steam Deck. Thank you for asking, though.

No problem at all, I hope you're enjoying it!

And do let us know if you have any other questions at all!

Fundamentally, all PC versions of Scott Pilgrim are the same. However, as a Steam Deck user you'll be given much less grief if you run the Steam version rather than EGS. You could run the Epic version through Heroic launcher or other methods. You'd be buying the Steam version for convenience and you'll need to decide whether that's worth the $5. I suggest trying to get your EGS version working on Steam Deck. If you can do that without any real trouble, there's probably no point in the purchase.

Personally, I don't enjoy having to use third-party launchers and workarounds on my Steam Deck. That's why I get games like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition or Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game on Steam. Yes, they have the DRM but it's a thin version of the client. In both cases of EA and Ubisoft Steam versions on Deck, it's really straightforward, so I'm happy to wait longer for exclusivity to end or pay a little bit more.

The Epic version is ~200 mb bigger. I think it got a patch that the Steam version didn't.
