Regular gear doesnt cut it survival wise.
I do sometimes when the firehouses haven't already been picked clean.
I know rain resistant gear is the wiser choice when it's raining, however this speaks to my point. Because it rains so damned much, running around in firefighter gear is limiting and doesn't do much in the way of camouflage/concealment in a game where so many players with a gun want to shoot you on sight and not engage otherwise. And the raincoats in game, though overly plentiful, are useless as they don't protect from the cold, which in and of itself is highly unrealistic. Starting out, I've gone hours without seeing a single water bottle in a world that has billions, but I can easily find dozens of raincoats and a plethora of other completely useless gear. Other times, bottles are falling out of the sky.
But I digress, the loot tables are a whole other issue. And I won't get started on how fast things wear out that shouldn't.
Mostly realistic...
I don't think it would hurt them or the game to cut down on the rain. I get they're trying for a mostly realistic survival experience, but in the end, it's a game. And despite the little things I personally find annoying, it's a good game.
Since I wrote the original comment, I have managed to lessen the frequency of getting ill, but my argument stands. I think the weather, though very well done, could use some tweaking.
