You can create 2 characters (Which can be played independently.). One for first person (hard mode) and one for third person (normal). When you enter a third-person server, the corresponding character always switches from your current server to the newly selected one.
If you switch from a server to another server, you take all the items from your inventory (+ whatever else you might have in your hand) with you to the next server. (The same applies to first person to first person servers.)
You'd better not change servers with ruined clothes. I received an error message that not all items fit into the inventory and had been dropped. The item is then not removed, but items in the extra slots (e.g. knife in the shoe, GPS on the backpack, etc.) are then dropped and cannot be put back into the extra slot. (But you keep the ruined clothes on and can then put the item in the normal slots if normal slots are available.)
The number of changes should be unlimited, but you have to wait an extra 1 minute for each server change. This also works from Livonia to Cherno and vice versa.
Dropped items have a lifespan that is reset through interaction. (I move items in the box to do this, you can also lift them, etc.). The lifespan depends on the item. A Google search with “List of Item Cleanup times” quickly leads to the appropriate list.
The spawn points should (I'm not entirely sure) be the same as for brand new players.
You shouldn't be able to transfer cars (I think).
You can either take all other items apart or take them with you in your hand.
If I have made any mistakes, please correct me.
Kind regards, Seb
a new game per say. @Sebbl0r is right, you can have 2 characters,
one for 1st person. another for 3rd. They do NOT share anything.
Vanilla official servers are a "Hive system". What this means is,
you can move between official servers and take any gear you
can put in your pockets, bags or carry in your hands.
Cars and bases do NOT transfer. You will also spawn in in a random
spawn point every time.
I also agree that you could have issues with ruined clothing and packs
that are carrying gear in them.
"Server hopping" can be useful for finding stuff if you play on a high pop server.
Cant find food? check a low pop server, pick up building supplies and ammo
while your at it. then hop back.. Remember, you won't spawn back
at the location you left from.
To be clear, you can't share items between your 1st person and 3rd person
games. Transferring only works on Official servers. Community servers are
NOT part of the hive.
Hope this helps.
What about cars and stashed loot? I understand that its not movable, but what about savable? I mean, if player switch from some official Cherno (1pp+3pp), to some official Livonia (1pp+3pp). Will be all stashed items still attachet to player what moved to Livonia? Or all that loot are independent to player and stashed without any relation to players? For me most important that this my cargo boxes and cars not despawn on server switching.
I think that Devs should to pay some attention to add information about this important feature, because when I have been buying the game, I think that Livonia its separete map, but now I have understand that this game is so cool, that I players can switch between maps, but no info about in in-game.
Cars shouldn't despawn at all - but, like every item in DayZ, they can be stolen.
All items remain on the same server. The only exception is the items you carry with you.
What happens to your hiding places depends on the items. However, entire bases can also be moved. But it's so time-consuming that it's probably not worth it.
As an example: You can take apart a wooden box with an ax. This will give you around 14 nails and 7 wooden planks again. These fit in large backpacks. In addition, you then have to transport the things from the 50 slots. You can more or less completely transport around 2-3 wooden crates per server change. (+ e.g. an empty barrel in your hand)
The same applies to gates, walls, etc.
If you drop (or build) the items, they are considered dropped and have a lifespan. (see above)
Here are a few typical life spans for you:
Wooden Crate - 45 Days
Sea Chest - 45 Days
Improvised Shelter - 7 Days
ALL Buried Items - (12-)14 days
(You can find all times using the Google search described above.)
Interacting with items always sets the timer to 0. That's why I move my items in the boxes every few days. Buried items have to be dug up and buried again in a timely manner.
Kind regards, Seb
Here's another tip: Dropped items normally last longer than the items of a player who was killed. If you become seriously ill (e.g. due to the contaminated zones) it makes sense to quickly take off your items in a reasonably safe place before you die.
Thanks! Its clear for me now about server switching feature. I'll hope that Devs will adding this info for players in future to game client and launcher
If I go from Chernarus 3pp to Livonia 3pp, my character stays the same?
