It means number of players online at that moment in your list.
That doesnt indicates how many diferent players logged in the game during the day.
Not sure if private hyve also counts, but public servers are conected to the central hyve, thatway they exactly know how many player were in the game at that day.
im not sure what ur trying to say
it doesnt matter what hive ppl playing. steam stats give u a number on how many ppl start up the game from their steam account, so far its not possible to start dayz standalone out of steam.
hold your mouse over the store button in steam, in the pop-up menu select the stats button on the bottem, this gives u the stats window. now expand the list and scroll way down to see where dayz is today
2. Peak players is the highest amount of players on at once.
3. Steam stats does not cover UNIQUE players. Not everyone plays at the exact same time.
the in-steam stat windows only give us a today. wich i agree is not accurate
Yes, steamcharts that covers peak and average, not unique.
That is an average calculation of the last 30 Days (per-day ingame accounts at the same time, showing the lowest & highest peak)
5,995.9 -1,264.5 -17.42% 13,218.
This is an average of unique accounts per-day in the last 2 weeks showing an increase of 12,704 (7.4%) on average. (With 3,442,977 accounts, I'm sure more than between 5,000 and 13,000 accounts login).
254,752 ± 12,704 (7.4%)
The sites that track Steam data are not official. They use the Steam API and crawl public player profiles to see if someone is playing a game, and keep a record of it. (Private profiles are not counted.)
SteamCharts only shows the total number of players in-game every Monday (not the rest of the week, like weekends) and does not count players who do not happen to be in-game at the exact moment they check the player's profile, and SteamCharts does not keep track of unique players.
SteamCharts' player counts are lower than Steam's. (over 2000 less current, 100 less peak)

SteamSpy shows 250'000 players in the past 2 weeks. Steam does not provide this stat.
Edit; The very beginning of this presentation talks about SteamSpy specificly:

These sites are not meant for accurate statistics. They are estimates with an arbitrary margin of error.
Thanks!
