What was that meteor fall from the sky I encountered?

Okay so I was just playing up north in a no name town.
Some gun fighting in the far off distance, but really far.

Then a bit later, there's this hissing sound in the air. Lasted for around 3 seconds.
Then crash nearby. Area got all smokey, like a faint mist. I ran up, took a peak.
Nothing there, not a dent on the ground or anything.
Started to get cuts/bleeding. Then vomited and died.

If this was a rocket launcher, I'd just like to know how the area got toxic and why the trajectory was coming from up to down (must've been aiming from a mountain then, or from that battle and gravity took it down?)

Honestly did search, and looked up YouTube sounds of the rocket launcher.
Couldn't find any, but nice to know. Wonderin who's bombing with zombie gas then
