Microphone Won't Work in-game No Matter WHAT I DO.
I have a Shure c606 Microphone and a Lexicon Alpha Audio Interface, and no matter WHAT I do, I keep getting in game, and people not hearing me. I did EVERYTHING. From verifying game files to unplugging and re plugging to what ever! DayZ + Steam won't receive any signal from my microphone, when I know the microhpone is working through windows! I tried everything, please help!

Do you have everything setup in your Steam voice settings? View > Settings > Voice

Yes I do. I checked that as one of the first things.

When in your settings, and you click "test microphone" does anything happen? Does the meter light up at all?
Have you also checked the settings in game? When you auto set the input in game, where does the bar stop? Does it remain empty or full?

It does not react in the settings when I speak, and when I auto adjust it in game it just remains the same. Almost full with a bit from it.

If your microphone is detected by windows in the control panel but not in Steam, try redetecting it in the Steam settings. If Steam still can't pick it up, I'd suggest reinstalling Steam. Make sure your microphone name is shown in the box in Steam voice settings. If it's not, detecting it is your first step.

If you have multiple jacks for headphones/speakers/microphones, try switching it (from front to back or back to front). I only suggest this because my computer does, and switching it up helped me before.

Just note, you're currently getting advice from someone who is not a computer expert, so the chances of it working may be slim. It's a better shot than doing nothing though!

Already tried pretty much anything you said, except for reinstalling steam.
I'll try reinstalling steam and get back to you, cheers!

Update, reinstalled steam and it still won't pick up any sounds. Tried connecting different cables as well, won't work.

Damn it! Maybe your microphone is just evil...

Have you tried the microphone with anything else such as Skype or TS3? If Steam is the ONLY thing that the microphone won't work with there might be something in the files preventing it or it's just a compatibility issue. Again, I'm no expert, so if it comes to hunting through files, I wish I could help, but I'd probably make your computer blow up.

If you're super desperate (I've been there, and had to myself), return the microphone if you can and get a new one. That's really the last idea I can give. Sorry it didn't work man..

My microphone is probably just evil. When playing DayZ I'll have to go back to my old microphone. Thanks for the help anyway! Though it is crucial, I am a streamer... Never mind. Cheers!

I've come up with a resolution to this problem. It took awhile and many attempts. However, there is a way.

Basically plug an RCA two channel cable (the audio ones with the red and white connectors used on older TV and stereo equipment) and use an adapter that connects that to a 3.5mm standard audio plug.

Then connect the RCA cables to the back of the Lexicon Alpha USB audio interface and run those to the 3.5mm adapter and plug that adapter into your computer's Line In port on your sound-card. Set the Line In device as your default device and default communication device in Window's Recording Devices. You should be able to use your audio card's Line In device to use your XLR microphone and USB interface with your Steam, Skype, and whatever else has been having trouble with your interface.

This fixed it for me. I just tested it. I bought this in 2013 and just finally fixed this in 2016. So thank me!

Since then I added a mixer and switched a microphone. Sounds promising and it even makes sense to do so! Thanks for the solution :)
