Try going to the folder DayZ is installed in, and run dayz.exe as administrator.
Or just run Steam as administrator.

Edited 23.05.2015;
Turn off Razer Comms.

Edited 20.05.2015;
- Go to Steam\Steamapps\Common\DayZ\
- Right-click DayZ.exe and open Properties
- Uncheck "Read-Only" (if checked)
- Go to the Security tab
- Select your account and "Edit..."
- Allow everything
- OPTIONALLY go to the Compatibility tab and check "Run as Administrator"
- Repeat for DayZ_BE.exe if needed.

Optionally restart your computer if this has no effect.

Running steam as admin FROM THE DESKTOP ICON worked for me, all the other places i tried didnt work for me, not to say they wont for you just saying from my personal experiance

This worked for me. Had the exact same error.

Find the DayZ folder on the disk the game is installed to. Most Likely C:

Then find the battleye application. (it has the dayz game logo and is directly below dayz.exe.)

Right Click - Properties - Check run as administrator - Apply

Then run in steam

Hope this helps

This works as a workaround to get the game launched from my regular account without having to log onto my own computer as Admin, I admit, but it isn't solving the problem. The error recurs when I try to launch from Steam
I usually use the GeForce Experience app to launch the game so I can use it's video/audio recording capability, which is pretty decent. But I can't do that until I figure out why I can't launch the game normally with Steam.
Any advice is appreciated.

Same problem for me. All other games load on steam ok. Seems to be issue specific to dayz.
with firewall off and running as administrator, all DayZ and Battleeye applications return same windows error, windows cannot find specified path, etc. You may not have permission. I have decided to wipe and reinstall steam and dayz to see if this fixes the problem.

You're even worse off than me, Spinoza. at least it will run for me as Admin.

Just as an aside, I had the same problem with the Experimental 0.53 build. I was hoping it would be fixed when brought to Stable, but no luck.

Thanks, La Flame, but been there, done that. Runs the game, yeah, but why should I have to do that every time, instead of just launching from Steam like I have for the last year? I'll just have to limp along with that Bandaid until BattlEye, or Bohemia, or whoever decides to sort this out.

I checked the box so battleye perminantly runs as admin then I I was able to run through steam.

I know, evry update is a step backwards in a way

Same problem. DId the run as admin thing but now it says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application."

Anyone have any clues as to what the problem might be?

No, you even have a completely different error message.

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application."

That error is often related to MSVC redist. Try to reinstall that ( you can find the setup in your DayZ folder\_CommonRedist )

What I meant to say was that I had the same error, it got fixed by the "run as administrator" option, but after that it gave me that othe error.

I installed the MSVC as you suggested and everything is fine now. Thank you kindly.

OK, finally this has corrected the problem. DayZ will now launch on my regular account from Steam, or from the GeForce Experience application as it did before this update.

Thanks, La Flame, for posting this info and your patience in helping us.
