DayZ server on a separate PC
I want to run the DayZ server on a computer at home and play DayZ on my steam deck. I have it setup and as long as I play it on the same computer that the server is installed it works. When I try to start DayZ on my steam deck it says I am logged in a another computer and will need to shut it down and if I continue I will automatically signed out of the other computer. Is there something I can do so that this will work?

Yes.

Create a new Steam account to run the server application on your computer.

I use a laptop to run the server while I play on PC, using the LAN. Steam won't allow you to use the same account simultaneously on two devices. I guess your Steam deck is considered to be a separate device.

You do NOT need to be signed in to Steam to run the DayZ Server .. You DO NOT need 2 accounts. Just run the Server from your PC without signing in to Steam.

EDIT - sorry to be a bit thick, but I have tried running the server app, and it won't let me do it unless I am signed into Steam. Apologies if I have misunderstood you or have missed something really obvious.

- In response, I would only say, if you needed a verified Steam account to run the Server (not the App), then Rental Servers and/or the ability to use Steam CMD to install and run a server, would not exist.
- If you are having a problem, you should start your own thread for troubleshooting your problem, or at least wait until the OP completes their troubleshooting request.

Thank you. I have no problems, I am answering the OP's question. I simply didn't think you could run the server in the way you described, and I don't think you can in the way you described. This is a much more accurate and useful description of how to do it using Steam CMD:

The OP now has two ways of achieving their goal, they can choose which way suits them best.

You're not answering the OP's question. You are arguing with me because I corrected your answer.
"I simply didn't think" and "I don't think" are indicators that you DON'T KNOW ...

I build servers. I run servers .. I KNOW you can run a server without signing in to Steam, and without even owning the game.

Im also having the same problem, Steam will not allow me to run the sever without logging into a steam account that owns the game. I am also trying to run the server from a second computer but Steam will not allow me to play the game on a second computer while the game is running. Would you be able to explain how you got avoided logging into steam and still start the server? It would be a hope help for me and anyone else who searches up this problem as this is the most relevant thread when searching for solutions to this problem. Thank you.

The DayZ server is a free download. I was able to solve this issue by creating a second steam account that runs the DayZ server on a second PC.
