[FIX] "Pixelation" and other resolution problems.
There are just so many of these threads around we need yet another thread to merge them into. If you are having problems even after trying through the possible fix(es) listed in this post, feel free to comment.

Make sure to describe your problem in detail. Posting a comment saying "my game looks weird" will not get you any help. Take a screenshot (preferably through Steam) if possible and specify how it's supposed to be.

THE FIX (easy way)
- Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DayZ\
- Open DayZ.cfg with notepad (or any text editor)
- Replace everything with the below (make back-ups):
language="English";
adapter=-1;
3D_Performance=150000;
Resolution_Bpp=32;
Windowed=1;
Resolution_W=1280;
Resolution_H=720;
winX=50;
winY=50;
winW=1280;
winH=720;
winDefW=1280;
winDefH=720;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=720;
FSAA=0;
postFX=0;
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3;
HDRPrecision=8;
lastDeviceId="";
localVRAM=2087387136;
nonlocalVRAM=2147483647;
vsync=0;
AToC=0;
SWLayersCount=0;
PipQuality=3;
PPAA=0;
ssaoEnabled=0;

RELATED INFO
THIS IS NOT A PERFORMANCE BOOST.
IT WILL CHANGE MOST OF YOUR GRAPHICS SETTINGS. (to low/off)

The file above is just a copy of my own CFG file.
Its only purpose is to get the running properly.

This makes the game run in a 1280x720 window. After the game loads, go to Configure > Video > User Interface... and choose your resolution or simply resize the window before adjusting any other settings.

If you absolutely don't want to change the rest of your graphical settings, just modify these lines (should work fine, but try the above if it doesn't):
Windowed=1;
Resolution_W=1280;
Resolution_H=720;
winDefW=1280;
winDefH=720;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=720;
Resolution = Game window resolution
winDef = Resolution the game will be rendered at before up/downscaling to window.
Render = Resolution the game will be rendered at in fullscreen.

Note: If your character/game looks "wide," go into Configure > Video > User Interface and make sure your Aspect Ratio is properly set. 1600x900 and 1920x1080 are 16:9 resolutions, for example.

OTHER FIXES (suggested by users)
Change the resolution in-game. (Instructions below if text is unreadable.)
1. In the main menu, click Configure (4th button.)
2. Click Video (Top-left, below the sliders.)
3. Click User Interface (Top-left, below the sliders.)
4. Change Resolution (First drop-down menu.)
5. The resolution should improve enough to set it to the one you want.
1. Check your DayZ.cfg and name.DayZProfile files for corruption.
(If the content has weird characters or looks like a mess, it's corrupted.)
2. Delete corrupted files.
3. Verify your game.

Resolution problems
I just reinstalled my PC. I had dayz installed on hard drive D so i just ran it. Steam installed some kind of program but i didnt notice what was it. When I ran the game., resolution was 1080x960 and couldnt set more. I changed some settings in dayz.cfg file. resolution is now 1920x1080 but still text's and windows ingame are huge. What do i do ? I even resintalled GPU drivers, updated them, reinstalled steam, reinstalled DayZ. I Cant play game like this :/

Hi Cof
Have you also set the

Render_W=1920;
Render_H=1080;

To these values in your Dayz.cfg

I thought that sorting the render_w=1920; etc might have sorted it for ya mate,
im sure that on here, these dayz sa forums i read a post after the new update to 0.45,
And there was a couple of people having this issue,
that's why i thought that maybe the
Render_W=1920;
Render_H=1080;
could have been set to a lower Render,
as i am sure in one of those threads a guy had it where the settings was lower,
Pretty sure someone told him to try the
Render_W=1920;
Render_H=1080;
value and change it to the ones the same as
Resolution_W=1920;
Resolution_H=1080,

If this has not worked then maybe somebody here has had this issue and managed to fix it,
maybe they could help with how they got it back to normal,
As me personally am at a loss now the Render values appear to be same as your resolution,

I take it you have tryed also through the games video settings and seeing what resolution that has you set at.

Cheers

Stuck at 1280 resolution
When it loads, everything is huge and blurry. Reinstalling didnt work, increasing the resolution in the config file didnt work, updating drivers didnt work.

It worked fine yesterday, then Steam updated and I get this has happened since.

Any advice? I need my DayZ back!

You're missing a line called 3D_Performance in your DayZ.cfg file.
Go to C:\Users\xxx\Documents\DayZ and add a line similar to 3D_Performance=1500000; at the end of it, and save. (Remember the ; at the end.)

I had the same problem, and I can't find the cfg file in either folder, but what I did was go in game, go to configure/video settings/user interface/ there it should have 1920x1080 32bit, you might neet to change the ratio back to 16:9 aswell I did. Go back to video setting, do not restart the game yet and change the res in video settings to 1080p.Go onto a server let it load, make sure it is playable then exit( not sure if this is actually neccessary but it's what I did) exit and restart the game and it should all be good. I hope this helps

Resolution problem
Is it normal that there's no 1920x1080?
SERGEANT Jun 21, 2014 @ 8:33am
Thank you for your response. I tried that but recieved another error telling me it was missing an adapter, I found the cfg code for adding the adapter and after that the error went away.

My resolution was still stuck at 1280 however and wouldnt go any higher, so I alt entered out and could bump it up to 1600 (which still looked like crap on my monitor but it was a little better)but the game jumped back to 1280 when I went back into the game.

Deleted cfg and local files & reinstalling now. Hopefully it will work this time.

Yeah nothing is working, cant go past 1280 resolution which makes the game unplayable. How frustrating.. Am I the only one having this problem?

DayZ isn't working properly
When DayZ loads up everything gets enlarged and pixely. I don't want this game to be a waste of money for me. I can't read anything like chat, names, and everything like that. I really need someone to help me. If it is my computer then so be it, but if I can fix the problem then someone please help!

Post healthy DayZ cfg file please
Tried every fix I can find to fix this resolution bug but nothing works. Can someone who is not having resolution problems post a copy of their DayZ config file here so I can compare it to mine?

Have you tried going into the user interface options and changing res and aspect ratio?
