DayZ
Help! DayZ Virus?
I decided to come back to DayZ for a bit to see if was less buggy, but Norton Security keeps on removing a file named "dayz_be.exe". According to norton, it contains virus "Trojan.Gen.SMH". I have already reinstalled and the same thing keeps happening. Can anybody help me?

Virus Detected in Latest Patch
Not trying to start a panic, and it very well might be a false positive, but has anyone else detected a Trojan embedded with the latest patchfile from steam?

Never had DayZ get a false positive before, so it makes me curious.

Hello!

Indeed Norton. Figured it was a false positive and all that, just wanted to check in just in case regardless and see if maybe it was a common thing that I was just lucky enough to avoid until now.

I would do a scan with Malwarebytes in the very rare case that something active on your computer has tried to inject itself into the steam process or maybes I'm being overly protective. 95% it's a false positive :nyancat:

It appears Norton updated today and it's giving false positives.

Did some reseearch and apparently the virus tries to impersonate a commonly known file and causes havoc by stealing a great deal of personal information. The thing is, the file is apparently needed to run the game.

Battleye does not steal any information from your computer. Battleye is one of the anti-cheat systems used by DayZ.

It doesn't do that. It's just Norton trying to be protective.

dayz_be.exe trojan?
Norton show a trojan warning for this file. Trojan.Gen.SMH

False positive. Most likely AV gets triggered by some tricks BE does to protect the DayZ client.

Okay, thanks
