They updated the launcher thing to have a feature needed for a different game.
The situation with KSP2 now ... IDK.
There are mods that "fixes" most people gripes, if fix is the right word... Then there are hundreds of mods that range from subtle additions, that try to be as realistic as the rest of the game to boosters that can put insane builds into space, to warp drives.
Everything still explodes, now and again.
They still seem to modify and update the binaries. Maybe nothing to do with game features and more so with surveillance "capitalism".
That's when I stopped playing and made a negative review. That pointless adware launcher made my mods break too
So they still have that launcher? shame..
If you want to continue to play, I believe there is a way to disable the launcher and as KSP doesn't check to see if Steam is running, you can copy the game folder to another location on your drive and run it from there without any issues (you can also create many different installs for different mod setups). In the same vein, if you wanted to play an earlier version of the game you can roll back the updates through the Betas menu. I forget how far it goes back, but you can at the very least go all the way back to .9
Also, if there isn't a way to to directly disable the launcher, you can create a direct shortcut to KSP_64.exe and bypass the launcher entirely.

This shows the removal of the forced launch behaviour from the play button.

This shows the removal of the launcher depot from the public branch, among some other things.
Can't say I ever really noticed as I use multiple installs for different modsets and used the executible or CKAN to launch the game. However, I figured Percavil might find other options useful if he was still interested in playing. Besides, knowing that he can have a separate install that works can be useful.
I will prob start playing again and change my review to positive.. I was upset how it broke my mods just for that adware launcher.
But what does he mean by this?
I honestly don't know... I guess there are other games in Steam that use the Private Division launcher, and someone forgot to show that KSP doesn't use it anymore. I wouldn't worry about it too much though.
I stopped playing through steam due to the launcher.
