Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program

Coming back to KSP after KSP2, recommend mods?
Hi all,

As much as I like the prettier vanilla graphics, better sounds, and some QoL improvements of KSP2, I think the game is just too barebones and unpolished to face even just vanilla KSP.

I wanna come back to KSP but I want to use CKAN to get some mods such as; graphics, audio improvements, QoL improvements, stuff planned for KSP, (colonies and deep space) etc. More or less I’m trying to mod KSP into what KSP2 should be.

Which mods, through CKAN, do ya’ll recommend?

Thanks

Get CKAN and try any that look good. It automatically makes sure they are compatible.

@-DeeZ- holy moly that's a lot. Thank you so much. I'm gonna look into them right now on CKAN!!

No worries my dude, try not to download all the stuff it recommends or dependencies, if you dwnld like the chunks listed above you'll have everything you need. You'll need to change the cfg file in parallax if you want collision to work, just change collision from false to true and you're good.

Some more flavor I forgot about

Chatterer
Contract Configurator
contract packs: Bases and Stations Reborn
commnet relays
career evolution
kerbal academy
tourism plus

KRASH
persistent rotation
probes before crew
rcs build aid
Strategia

I started with KSP2 then bought the first so the graphics were sorely missed. I honestly like the look of this better excluding KSC but upgrading it is dope. This is basically my current playthrough but I modify a science config only Kerbalism so traveling interstellar isn't near impossible 'cause of radiation but I can do all the cool science stuff....add hard career mode and you got yourself a loooooong playthrough :)

Awesome, thanks again. I messed up by downloading all suggested/recommended mods and one of the major things I noticed was Minmus was gone and the Mun was super close to Kerbin and at a damn near polar orbit lol

Warning, that many mods may fry your PC, especially the planet packs!

If he was playing KSP2 I'm sure he'll be aight :)

yeah fair warning, I got a potato and it does the job. I think most pcs can handle one planet pack but if it was struggling skip Kcalbelo...maybe have 16gRam to have a planet pack and 32 for multiple

Worth mentioning is "Umbra Space Industries". Multiple mods available. Game play changer.

I had problems with KCAN, think I need an idiot's hand holding YouTube guide. Curseforge ends up having stuff bomb error messages about the modulemanager.dll.

Do agree about KSP2 to KSP. I love the looks/environment of KSP2 but being an early release there isn't much there yet (form the publisher and Mod builders). I'm an old fart so waiting a year is worth it.

I've only been playing KSP for about 2 weeks and pulled the trigger on KSP2 last night.

You're much better off learning the game with the first imo, a lot of stuff doesn't work in ksp2 so its hard to tell if its you or the game. I can't imagine learning interplanetary travel with that maneuver tool/ui.

As far as cKan, it's much more streamlined modding the first. Maybe just start with a few graphical mods if you feel its a lil lackluster, stock offers a lot if you've only been playing a few weeks anyways....there is always the "make ksp1 look like ksp2" YouTube search approach but cKan is the preferred method over curseforge
