altitude gain of my plane changes if i speed up time
heyho im quite a noob in this game. i managed to build a working "plane" but now i run into a problem with the time compression.
yeah it flies like a brick but if i manage to balance the plane in a ascending flight wich gains speed and everything is fine but slow. the momenent i activate 2x 3x or 4x time compression the plane stops ascending and looses altitude quickly. getting back to 1x will revert the drop sometimes, but not always. getting on the other side of kerbin takes me 40 min realife :(

those 2 screens where taken close at the same time, only switching from 1x to 2x time compression

any ideas?

2x + physics warp breaks the in-game physics. MOST planes you build will fall apart and explode violently during physics timewarp. This can't really be avoided, but you can design the plane in a more compact manner with extra struts and less weight to make the problem not as bad. Planes also tend to drop like a brick in high phys-warp.

TLDR planes dont work in phys-warp

I can fly fine in 2x. even 4x if it's not large

I mean, yeah, some designs work in physics warp, but in general physics warp is both unstable and inaccurate.

Yeah, but that's not the fault of KSP. You can't just simply speed of your computer to speed up ingame time. You need to have fewer physics updates per second

Heres a good starter plane to get you going. Its not here yet, gonna be soon. EDIT: Just check my workshop for something called Starter Plane. No mods, no hussle.

what? im not speeding up my computer, i have no idea what you mean.

the in-game physics warp in vanilla functions this way.

Yes that's the point, you can' just simply make your computer more powerful. to speed up time, the games needs to lessen the physics updates per second.

My computer is perfectly powerful... This game calculates physics with the CPU exclusively, and my CPU is well beyond requirements.

Planes being unstable at high physics-warp values is not because of PC performance. It's just the way the game calculates physics in general.

oh thank you <3 i feared something like that :/ but at least my plane does not explode violently, thats something for shure :D

thanks you <3 but do i guess right that there will be no "small" version that can reach up to 18km height 3 times a row?

ill make a plane with a ramjet soon. ramjets operate the best at 18 kms.

It calculates physics in warp by doing less calculations

When you first use physics warp it gives you a warning box about using it...

Most people just tell it not to show it again and forget ha ha ha... been there, done that !

Everyone does. In space, physics timewarp is safe... if your build isnt the ISS.

I've given up flying on kerbin because the physics is broken and no plane I built can fly at any warp speed. When I turn on warp they all dive into the ground.
