How do you use electrical engines?

I can't figure out how to use electrical engines, could someone please tell me?

Ion engines need electricity and xenon gas, which comes in special tanks.

Same principles apply to planes etc. Guide has power and how to fly and program etc.

Lots of solar panels too. They use a bunch of electricity.

With the vanilla stuff keep in mind that you won't be able to make those ion engines let you take off from Kerbin. They're only to be used in space. On Kerbin you would want things like helicopters and those vtol wing things. I once made something called Icarus that I used to fly all the way to the sun by keeping the engines on and running in fast forward (has to be set before you enter space or it won't let you). They can give you a lot of range for their fuel consumption but it's pretty slow and weak.

You can force physics warp up to x4 (even while in space or during a burn) with ALT + [your warp key]
