Kerbal Planetary Base Systems doesn't have any dependencies, but it supports a lot of mods, including most life support mods. Extraplanetary Launchpads goes great with it.
I'd still recommend installing SCANsat, I find it much more useful than stock scanning.
KIS has been made stock, but KAS is still its own thing.
Most people use CKAN to install mods, but I like to install them manually. Curseforge is usually outdated, so I download mods from the KSP Forum and Spacedock.

From the left of this small science base, the experiments sometimes jump 1-2 meters. the science base bounces on its landing legs, the rover with the folded legs rattles around under it, and the other 2 rovers had to be lifted off the surface by those "carports" to keep them safe.
Three other rovers left in the open simply exploded.
Yeah I remember first landing on Minmus. I used RCS for push to the ground :D
I'm using USI life support (not Kolonization tho) on my current run. So just need habitation and supplies. It's nice.
I decided to take Kerbalism + Kerbal Planetary Base Systems.
MKS is not updated to current version
I consider it cheaty: producing rocket engines and other complicated equipment with drill and smelter seems stupid. It might be good for some orbital dockyards to build fuselage.
