Possible to have Steam start CKAN with Launch Options?
Hello there!
So obviously I've entered the magical command in the Launch Options of KSP on steam to skip that whole launcher thing. (Seriously, unless it lets you manage your mods than not much point of having it if you ask me!) I only knew what I needed to input because of others.
Oh and no need to worry, I've given the launch the total boot and have deleted it's files.
Anyway... that's not the point of this thread.
Now i'm considering downloading some mods and am planning on using CKAN.
Seeing that you can directly link the game executable to skip the launcher, does anyone know if CKAN can be started the same way? Still record playtime and have access to Steam's in-game features while also still being able to safely handle modding on multiple installs of KSP?
Not a problem if it isn't possible, i'd just thought I should ask before trying to work it out.
Otherwise I can just always change the executable command to the install I am using whenever I switch.
I think it's important to note i have not done ANY mod downloading yet. So this is merely a theory.

Note by using the easy way the game will launch but it will bork up over time. Watch for errors in the log

IDK I don't mod

but I do know that modding can make things go funky if you bypass the launcher the easy way.

There was some talk over on the official forums about how to bypass it with mods... it sounded like you needed another mod and to create a file for it to dump into or something since it will start to create duplicate files in places since it can't find what it want etc etc.

I didn't get into it since I don't mod but it seems like it is much easier if you mod to not launch through steam.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It has been so long that I hardly remember anything about where I got it except that it was on the main forum, not here.
Anyway, it is called KSSL v1 and it works. I play through steam so screenies are easily done and all that stuff. I mod and use CKAN. The only bug is that every time I verify files KSSL needs to be reinstalled.

Thanks for that information. Do you mind if I add it to the guide? With credit to you for pointing it out of course.

I did not do this and deserve no credit. However I did just find the thread it is in. Just scroll down to R-T-B's post.

I will add this link as well but it seems I had already updated the guide with the kssl info and forgot ha ha
Wont hurt to have two links anyway in case one breaks or something.

Thanks again
