Any other games like this?
Hey everyone! As you might see, I have played KSP for about 822 hours now and I freaking love this game to bits... but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other games similar to KSP. Maybe a habitat game, or even a space station game. Can anyone please help? Thanks guys, all the best <3.:steamhappy:

Like this in terms of building and launching rockets and spaceplanes? Not as far as I've seen.

You want to build a spacestation - but not the launch and assembly parts -

Orbiter is a personal favorite. Though it's more about flying spacecraft then actually building them. Also it's completely free

Double spoiler: potential breakage due to weekly updates. The game is passing through a phase similar to post-1.1 KSP, is slowly getting fixed.

Take on Mars lets you build surface bases on mars and I think the moon. PlanetBase lets you build bases on various worlds. Like sim city on alien worlds.

Both are on steam, but I'm too lazy to include a link for you.

Oh, it's just a phase? Cool. ^_^ I love Space Engineers, but weekly updates have been breaking things for well over a year, now. Every darned week. Gets kind of old.

On the original subject, no, I don't think there are any other games that are actually much like this. That's why KSP is so darned wonderful. It's unique.

There really aren't any games like KSP. Those that are similar in parts, like celestial command and simple rockets, are clearly inspired by it. That's gameplay. If you're asking about space-themed games, however, you can't throw a brick without hitting a million of them, as one of the other posters suggested.

Startopia's only similarity with KSP is they're both set in space.
Same for Mars Colony.
Do NOT buy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ df9 under any circumstances. That game is abandonware and cancer. If you can avoid it, any double fine title.
Space Engineers really isn't anything like KSP.
SimpleRockets is just a crummy mobile ripoff of KSP.
Take on Mars, while an enjoyable and relaxing game, is also nothing like KSP.

Orbiter, on the other hand, is easily the most legitimate suggestion for "games that are like KSP" in this thread. And probably the only game in existence that KSP can be compared against.

I don't understand why some posters here are suggesting titles which are not in the least comparable to KSP other than the space theme. Why not X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. That's set in space, right? And you fly a space ship. Or, I don't know, Wing Commander. No Man's Sky, Rebel Galaxy, etc. In fact, I'm almost pleasantly surprised nobody here has made the blunder of suggesting KSP is comparable to FTL. Gotta look under the superficial, kids.

Well, OP asked for "Maybe a habitat game, or even a space station game" and a lot of the suggestions would fall in the category. Sure, Space Engineers is basically space lego (you get space themed blocks to optionally assemble in the shape of spacecraft), but it could be described as a "space station game"

Hahaha, well thank you for your detailed reply! I have seen gameplay on basically all of these and they don't really interest me. Although I can't remember seeing Orbiter. Thank you for the help Bomoo, really appreciate it :D.

Well seeing as space engineers is here...

It's similar to space engineers in that it's block based, but that's it. The game mechanics are very different. Also, the demo is the full version. You only have to pay if you want to support the devs.

Orbiter is your best bet. If you like the orbital dynamics, and harder science of KSP the new Universe Sandbox might be enjoyable. KSP to me is a wombo combo of Orbiter, Legos, and Universe Sandbox. And to me going back to any of those (ESPECIALLY LEGOS BECAUSE THOSE THINGS KILL WHEN YOU STEP ON THEM) is less fun.

The closest thing I have found is this:

It's not as charming, however, and it's considerably more grindy. There really isn't anything anywhere close to KSP and I really doubt there will be until KSP2.
