The console version even has it's own distinct name for cripes sakes.
You are very misinformed, the PC and console versions have tons of differences. I mean console is still on version 1.5 and PC is on 1.9.

"Apart from a few days delay for console update certification, we will always have parity,"

Again, you are misinformed.
Link is from 2016 which is 4 years ago...
The current console port is a completely different product made by a completely different studio.
Please inform yourself before making posts like this.
That they never thought to add some ability or play options for establishing similar bases/launch sites in career mode.
Being able to launch from the Mun, would make the entire point of having a Mun base in the first place pointless.
It's basically just cheating, and if you want to do that; use the Debug menu to teleport yourself there.
They basically gave it to console players because the console version is so crappy, they need all the help they can get to see anything past Kerbin.
I personally don't care either way, but Chibbity does have a point, always doesn't mean only during this version, or this release...if that's what they intended they shouldn't have used the word 'always'.
A mun base where I can have a supply depot is exactly what I want. Then comes building and launching from the Mun. Currently I can get to the Mun but can't go any further.
The hardest part about exploring the solar system is getting out of earth's gravity well and the same thing applies to KSP.
You don't need a supply depot on the Mun if you can just launch whatever you want wholesale from the Mun. It defeats the entire purpose. If you can just design and launch craft from a magical pad on the Mun, why would you need anything on the Mun besides that?
(As I said above, it's basically a consolation prize for console users, since that version of the game can't support high enough part counts or even be stable enough to setup any serious infrastructure.)
Also, if we agree it's the hardest part, then we agree that circumventing it is tantamount to cheating right? If you're going to essentially teleport all your built ships to the Mun for zero cost or effort, why not just teleport them to their destination? What's the difference?
KSP2 in a year...
Doing this sort of thing on a console.. nah. The hardware just can't handle the part count. The Mun launch site basically gives console players the ability to cheat a bit so that they can circumvent some of the limitations of the hardware.
I've love to see it in the PC version, as an option anyway, but I don't see it as super necessary either. Personally I'm looking forward to KSP2 and the ability to "earn" such things through gameplay. KSP can allow for some of that via mods, but surface gameplay in KSP is notoriously unreliable - craft tend to just randomly explode and whatnot.
Here's hoping the ongoing epidemic doesn't delay KSP2 too much - if I'm not mistaken the team working on it is based in Seattle. That's the hardest hit part of our state.
