Ascendant Mode
I get that the devs wanted to give players more of a challenge but I think this difficulty is plain broken. I get one-shot but random heroes, only if they are reflective though but after I go back those guys are absolutely nothing and die easily.

The Underking seems to be broken too, because I'll be fighting him and just out of the blue I get one-shotted. And it also happened to me 3 times now that after killing the Underking a poison fountain just appears right next to his spoils and one-shots me.

I like a challenge, but ascendant needs some more work because it's completely unbalanced

How much HP do you have?
*ascendant is an optional mode just like veteran is

Reflective enemies you can 100% counter in different ways, either stack more reflect resist; or wait until their 8?sec reflect aura/shield buff wears off. - reflect is your own attacks killing you

Underking has an acid ground spurt you might not always want to stand in, and he throws a big painful rock, it can be possible to to stand in the spurt on tanky chars, but you probably really want to avoid the rock either way on most chars

Are you serious bro? Like of course that's what Reflective does, but it doesn't happen every time. Something just seems to be broken because I randomly die. And I don't care how much damage I do, this is a random hero not a boss or a nemesis.

And I don't need advice on how to tackle the Underking, I just said that I've died 3 times after defeating the Underking because I think he spawns that whole circle of poison fountains in one spot. But again this happens after he's dead.
Regardless of balance, you should know by now that you need to be careful to not die after a poison boss is killed lol. Especially if you base your survival on health leech. Always after fighting Underking I instantly dash away form the fight scene and spam all of my potions and healing that is off cooldown.

And reflected damage resistance can be easly maxed with some gear and a few augments (or was it components?) on accessories. I highly suggest this if you want to do Challenge dungeons. Otherwise it is just to annoying to randomly kill yourself.
"then move on his death"
it's really not a hard concept
and *yes* reflective basic enemies warrant that consideration.. it's their entire gimmick hence why it's there to be paid attention to... 😐 - you're complaining about a basic interaction, that can be 100% negated in multiple ways, because you're refusing to acknowledge that interaction at all...

This is not some unfair insta 1shot from a rando instant move if it's from a reflect buff..
If some generic enemy was 1shotting you with a regular swipe it would be totally valid
But you picked a gripe with 2 of some of the most preventable scenarios... - on the hardest scaled optional difficulty... "are you serious bro" ? :wombatthink:
Ascendant is totally fine
However, ascendant with full ascension altar filed could be extremely tough for unprepared build

I got one-tapped in ascendant (no altar) on a character with 17K HP, 3300 DA, 2700 Armour, 100% Absorption, Capped and over capped resistances by at least 15%, Circuit breakers: Shatter guard, Ghoulish hunger, Blast shield ... oh right those didn't matter since i got insta killed... By the dread doing random auto attack sweep. And no it wasn't the purple sweep and i was not sundered and i was not standing in his black pool of goo. Genuinely if you have any advice i would like to hear it. Otherwise i guess i should have just dodged every attack since it could be a potential one-shot.
Ulo, Keeper of Water/Cleansing Waters removes all enemy buffs, including reflective. I use it with all of my builds. I like to link it with a relatively short CD buff skill or debuff of my own as an opener before I start attacking. Cleansing Waters is also great to remove those nasty debuffs that certain bosses like to use to shred your resists.

As for the one shots, do circuit breakers not help with that? Some items have circuit breakers that can absorb upwards of 10,000 points of certain types of damage. Or is it all so much overwhelming damage even that wouldn't make a difference?
advice?
either it wasn't the auto attack but its other in your face attack, - or its hinting you to not face this super with only 17k hp on Ascendant

Yes, the game still needs some changes. Youtube Rektbyprotoss died several times and only showed that the game still needs adjustments to be sober.
When you are ready for ascendant mode, ascendant mode is fine. If you are not ready for ascendant mode, the game will let you know in an obvious way.
I've been oneshot by that guy twice as a pet build so its not reflect in my case. Basically his poison/rock suck and either one can take my max resists 19k hit, lots of damage reduction proc guy down instantly or close enough I can't tell.

He's not a hard kill for me since I can kite, so I can't offer melee advice or what the issue is in those cases. I do think ascendent is going to require a lot of face tanking builds reassess. I do have a mostly complete reflection warden and they struggle on some nemeses bosses that are not an issue in ultimate.
Ascendant mode reminds me of Diablo 2's Hell difficulty, where your character needs a shield and should avoid using melee builds - unless you kite or use 'melee' skills with a wide AoE.

Wonder how many hardcore characters have fallen thus far in Ascendant mode. :DwellerSkull:

It's always linked to my rune augment. :)
There are a lot of "behind the scenes" defenses beyond health and resistance, and I think a lot of people (not necessarily in this thread, just talking about the many one-shot threads in general) have been underestimating how significant a difference they make (I know I sure was). My glassy first character through FoA had to be extremely careful fighting the Underking, because getting nicked by the blast radius of a single fragment of his thrown boulder was certain, instant death. Yet my current one just face tanks him, casually standing in the poison fountains, and even shrugged off a direct hit from the boulder toss.

While he certainly has more health, it's not a simple matter of being able to survive the hit and heal back; I'd notice if he kept instantly losing huge chunks equivalent to the first character's health. He just has a lot more stuff like a shield, higher DA, defensive passive abilities. It's not so easy to just "get" dramatically higher health, and dying in two hits instead of one is still going to die a lot...but maybe some smaller adjustments in redistributing some skill points and augments into more defensively-minded buffs would make a bigger difference.
