Just because there is a steep market for them doesnt mean they are good. Gaming took a nose dive 10 years ago due to cash shops, asian markets and greed. We're only leveled out somewhat now because of laws and indie devs trying to change the future.
Fortnite switching to BR didnt save gaming either btw. If they'd gone with their original plan of save the world mode and built on it alot it'd be a great game to many but not as profitable due to accessibility. So they turned to greed instead.
Great games are hidden under rocks because of niche markets... Imagine if Path of Exile reduced its gameplay speeds by 50% and added 8x more damage resist types and dmg types? It'd probably be under 10k players too.
People are addicted to speed, greed and shiny.
D2R (unless they somehow absolutely ruin it) will be my go-to game for a long time. If D4 turns out to be an OK game I'll get that too. If not, who needs it when I will have a state of the art D2!
And, at the moment, I'm actually having fun with D3. I avoided the game for years, but upon hearing of D2R, saw that Blizz is offering a bundle of D3, RoS, RotN plus D2R (when it releases). I probably won't play D3 much after D2R is released, but I had fun, and finally got up to date on the story as well. Good times..
Don't remind me I'm trying to give up those activities...

see the reviews this is not going to be a crap remaster.
although the price for remaster is insane but nostalgia costs...
Theres plenty of info about it already, including fairly in depth footage and alpha gameplay stuff. It so far looks nothing like D3, in fact atm visually at least some people are saying they have over corrected and made it look to depressing and dark. Now whether the game will be shallow and boring is another matter, but it looks like they have at least learned a lesson aesthetically speaking.
Given how grimdark Sanctuary is as a world I'm inclined to pay little mind to anyone complaining about D4 being too grimdark. They probably didn't play the first Diablo.
Diablo II for life.
The gameplay looks really good, and the idea of open world, I'm down for that.
It's looking more and more like I wont, I would almost consider it if it came to Steam due to the convenience of at least that much.
I wish they'd just give the IP to Crate honestly.
I'm not optimistic about the D2 remaster either. Not after Warcraft 3 Reforged. Like I said, I haven't felt anything good from a Blizz game in a while. The new Starcraft games just did not do it. WoW is just a money machine and nothing more. Overwatch was a vastly understated disaster that I got tired of in record time.
I don't think Blizz has it anymore. Metzen's gone, and whether that was a bad sign or not might be a matter of opinion. A few years back I wondered why they never did anything more with the BlackThorne IP, but now I don't think I'd want them to try it.
That's an entirely fair take on it all.
I'd be happy to forget D3 ever existed, the graphic choice in direction was a travesty enough, but the gameplay.. Just makes me ask what the hell Diablo ever did to them.
The only reason at all I'd have for wishing it on Crate is how well they've crafted Grim Dawn, if all this went back in time and Crate had made Diablo 3 I'm of the mind that it would have been an outstanding success.
But perhaps it's time for me to let go of Sanctuary and fully embrace Cairn.
