Have I messed up (mythical stormheart)?

I'm a vitality caster, level 100 so I would like to farm The Dark One set. But I can't seem to progress the Lokarr quest.

I have the Heart of Darkness. But when I go to the Desolation Wastes and find the altar, the Urn spawns but when I destroy it....no Mythical Stormheart.

I think I might have picked it up earlier in the game and sold it, but honestly don't remember.

So if you accidentally sell a key piece of gear for a quest line are you screwed?

Maybe you'we skipped a step? Been a while since i did it, so i don't remember what steps are before it, but i don't think it can just drop without previous steps.

I have the Heart of Darkness in my inventory. That's the requirement for getting the Mythical Stormheart to spawn in the Desolation Wastes.

But....it's not spawning.

Ok, started completely over. I threw away my existing Heart of Darkness. I went to the smith. I picked up the note. I crafted a new Heart of Darkness. I went back to Desolate Wastes. I went to the alter. I smashed the Urn.

Nothing.

Can u get an alt to the point of collecting Stormheart and then transferring it between characters?

Yeah, I have a different character that hasn't yet done the AoM DLC, so that's my plan B.

So it looks like the lesson learned here is to NOT sell anything....you never know when it might be necessary for a secret quest.

Dont sweat. There really is very few items that has secret quests attached to them.

Well that may be true but, I'm a vitality caster. Looks at the build compendium for those....they're all wearing The Dark One set. You can't get that set without farming it in the Edge of Reality. You can't get to the Edge of Reality without the Mythical Stormheart.

Oh I dunno ... you Google too much and you deprive yourself of some of the discovery.

And if you enjoy GD then making alts is just part of the process - and they become the safety nets for all the hiccups.

I think the bigger issue is whether you can switch focus to another character for a while, or if the itch to farm out the set is too big :)

The itch to farm is too big! Luckily, my other character, a Warder, already had this dagger in her inventory. I don't remember getting it. But a quick trip to the transfer stash and now I'm all good.

I'm glad you figured this out, I was about to say I'm pretty sure it spawns another one if you don't have it.

I just did this quest first time, I already had sahdina's necklace in my stash but I got it on my sorc, I was trying to do the quest on my tactician but the blue dude wouldn't spawn lol. Had to be the character I was actually starting the quest on.

Interestingly enough, the Mythical Stormheart dropped from a boss while I was in Edge of Reality. So I gave it up as the gifts needed to get into Edge of Reality, but got it back shortly afterwards. I don't know if that's intended or just random RNG drop.
