The numbers on the bar at the bottom of the skill tree aren't a level restriction, it's how many points you need to invest before the skills above it unlock. By L20 you should have roughly 60 points - enough to max that bar and try a few skill combinations.
And don't forget that you can respec your skills relatively cheaply in the northern corner of Devil's Crossing.
not sure what to recommend if you find nightblade boring, imo it's one of the most awesome zerking masteries, could be we play it differently (even before lvl 40)
if you are looking for something flashy maybe try Shaman and Primal Strike, or Savagery with a few wps (feral hunger zolhan etc "attacks that activate of f default atuo-attacks")
besides that i find Oathkeeper pretty entertaining because Captain America shield slinging,
Arcanist Albrechts Aether Ray is literally face melting, bit squishy but poerful potential class cannon type build can be made easily with several other mastery combinations
/shrugs
Grim Dawn is built with the same "custom" engine that Titan Quest was made with - but heavily modified for Grim Dawn over the many years they have been working on this game. A few of the devs in Crate did indeed work on Titan Quest but Titan Quest is no longer "their game" (and hasn't been for well over a decade now). THQNordic (formerly known simply as Nordic Games) has been the owner of the Titan Quest IP for some years now.
ofc you will be using the same set of skills over and over, that's kinda how it goes, there are onyl so many skilsl to pick and so many spots on the hotbar ;)
-they key is to pick some nice one/things you like to play, like i mentioned Ring of Steel and shadow strike are awesome, has a cd so you want stuff in between, like wps (belgothian shears, amarasta's quick cut, whirling death etc) you can also fill in with Amarasta's blade burst, but if you got those 3 skilsl +wps youl will be stretching your points thin early on tho (1pointing some skills is actually not always terrible)
personally how i go Nightblade is, rush Ring of Steel (1pt), grab shadow strike +nightfall, then 1 point in Blade Spirit (for lulz and devotion procs) then i decide wether i want to go wps or something else, like 2hand Amarasta's Blade Burst for weirdness or something hehe, but it all works and you can get all of em, you just wont be able to cap them all (nor should you/need you cap certain skills fully)
yes you can respec, 1point at a time, but you can respec all except for the final mastery point/cant change class once put 1 point in it

Build Numbers 5 and 9 both use the Nightblade and might be good guides for you if you are interested in DW melee builds using Nightblade.
Grim Dawn is faster paced than Titan Quest (unless you use Titan Quest's speed increase settings) but overall they are still going to share many similarities in form and function. You have to experiment and learn the game to find what is fun for you as Grim Dawn offers a smorgasbord of build options that work and are viable.
for low level between 1-70 any weapon can work, just keep a good balance on resistance-armor-damage to not get gimped by most mob.
If you are still struggling with equipment, faction vendor is a good place to start checking a decent equipment, they come in level 35/50/65/70/82/90. Also this number is a good indicator on which level you should upgrade your equipment
Spectral Battle Axe with the "Of Alacrity" suffix and preferably one of these prefixes - "Chilled" or "Frostborn" or "Glacial" or "Rimefrost" - for a cold damage focused build.
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/1852
Dermapteran Slicer again with the "Of Alacrity" suffix and preferably one of these prefixes - "Puncturing" or "Superior" or "Heart Piercing" or "Sinister" or "Barbaric" or "Frenzied" - for a Pierce damage focused build.
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/2775
Both of these weapons are target farmable (being Monster Infrequent items) so are easy to acquire at low levels. The Spectral Battle Axe can be farmed from certain blue ghost Undead enemies that are found in the Spined Cove ( https://www.grimtools.com/map/markers/poi/315 ) or within the Steps of Torment and its many floors. The Dermapteran Slicer drops in abundance from enemies of its name in the Rotting Croplands area ( https://www.grimtools.com/map/markers/rifts/803 ).
then from level 30+ it's a "X Dermapteran Slicer of Alacricity" tbh prefix doesn't really matter, it's super easy to farm, and highly effective for a pierce build. With Blades of Nadaan devotion it gives you 100% armor piercing which is just the beez'neez for any piercing Nightblade/Blademaster/Infiltrator, it will just obliterate stuff, and is easy to refarm every 15-20lvls or so as needed/desired
for an acid build you have https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/2083 and https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/12494 (dervish) both really easy to farm, and ofc https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/8878 which is a bit more pita to get and only starts from lvl 40
if you are talking about us we are only linking to individual items up there
you can respec your points easy, at teh spirit guide, NW corner in jail,, but not your mastery, if you wish to do that you need a char editor like Grimd Dawn defiler or something
